Where is Paul Culpin he’s normally an early name:emoji_thinking:

I’m not a big fan of this legends business but it is nice to see some names of players names that I saw play and it would be good to see people like Hadji and Keane at one and of course Walleme, Evotshuk and Jarni

My memory isn't what it used to be. Has Dion Dublin ever turned up for one?

Yeah Froggatt said he'd be there on Twitter but his name is missing off this list. TBF getting Speedie is decent.

PS Otis, I don't think Dublin ever has nor ever will.

I think so, he disputes the story put out by Richardson about him demanding a move etc. He also probably remembers the abuse he got when he returned. Shame really.

It is.

No-one now would boo him would they? Would surely get an ovation I would have thought.

Got to be in the top 5 best ever players for the club, if not at the very top.

I would like to see Dion back, the chap is a legend for our club and would be disappointed if people booed him

We could boo the people that boo, but that might get confusing. A great player for us

Agree, I must admit I booed him when he returned with Villa. In retrospect he was a fantastic servant for us, oh how we missed his leadership once he left

I'm surprised to see this is allegedly Speedie's first Legends Day. A few years ago I was chatting to one of the CCFPA organising members who recalled Speedie not being entirely happy about how the day went (mainly concerning his own financial outlay) and saying he wouldn't come back!

Nobody involved with the club then is still here and he must understand that fans will be upset when their hero moves to a rival. We've all accepted it now and it would be a shame if that's stopped him coming back.

I used to give that Pearce bloke some grief when he and his mates would be defending a corner at the West end goal. A long drawn out "Saaaan Mariiiiiino" would be my favoured method of breaking his concentration. Never fucking worked once.

Thought Nuddy might be on there as I hear he is visiting Cov at the start of March.

He was a pundit at a game at the Ricoh a few years ago. For some reason he wasn’t in the gantry at the back of the stand at the start of the game. He actually walked around the pitch perimeter and then up the stairs to the gantry. He was clapped all of the way, got a really good reception. Whenever he is asked about the club’s situation he always speaks well on the subject and actually seems to understand a lot of what has gone on. I am sure he commented that we had the worst owners in the football league. Shame he doesn’t attend.

To be fair to Dublin he always speaks very highly of city when he mentions us, despite the abuse he was given after leaving. Wouldn't surprise me if he came to one of these events some day.

Yep, he and a few others. Sad really when “proper legends” don’t get the credit they deserve such as Dublin, when halfwits like MacSheffrey who think the club owes them something get the red carpet.

While on holiday in Zimbabwe I read a "Best of Zimbabwe" book in the hotel, and there was a brilliant two-page spread on Nuddy, giving a lot of detail on his CCFC career, and picturing him in the old pale blue kit. People over there all wanted to talk about him when I mentioned I was from Coventry.
The book also mentioned that he had 2 (officially) daughters......

As has been said by few on here, nobody would boo Dublin now. I was at that game when he walked round the pitch to his commentary position and you could see he was taken aback at the applause he received, and if he did attend a legends day event he would be cheered as loudly as anyone.

Don't know why you feel the need to have a dig at McSheffrey in the process though. If any players can be considered legends in the 19 years since we dropped out of the Premier then he would probably be one of them. Yes he wasn't what Robins wanted and was over the top when he wanted to rejoin us last season, but I don't see why someone should be criticised for wanting to play for us.

Likewise I've seen plenty of comment about Speedie having been disruptive in the dressing room and unpopular with team mates. I' remember when we played in the old Sky veterans 5 a side tournament, where Speedie was a regular with the likes of Micky Gynn, David Phillips & Cyrille Regis & he seemed as much a part of the group camaraderie as anyone. This is another example, that his unpopularity has probably been exaggerated with the passing of time

One “proper” legend arguably the biggest who never comes to Legends Day don’t think he ever has, captain from fourth division to first, managing director and team manager of our cup-final team.
