Let's try and share some magic on the legendary ones with this thread, so please try and post a video of your player.

I'll start with this chap, Juan Roman Riquelme:

Played mostly with Boca Juniors in his native Argentina, but dazzled the European scene with Barcelona and Villareal.

Just watch this guy's close control and technical skills. Unreal.

Not even Fabio Cannavaro was in Sir Trevor's league. :D

Anyone recall this game from USA 94?

In this tournament, I fell in love with how Hagi played the game. I couldn't believe his movement, strength, vision and incredible shooting skill. For me, he was a better player than Maradona, with the two of them being so regularly compared.

Both great shouts, especially Waddle. Love that bit in the compilation where he leaves Giggs on his arse, haha.

EDIT: Just looked on Wikipedia, and it says Waddle had an unsuccessful trial with us in 1980?! Bloody hell.

I started looking for some clips of Socrates but just ending up watching this twice in a row eating my dinner....

1982....I was 11 & I fell in love with this team.....but they still never beat my Talbot 82 CCFC side in subbuteo.

Franny Lee weren't bad either and he was a podge.

Also, the free-scoring goalkeeper from Paraguay, I give you Jose Luis Chilavert.

My favourite goalie of all time. That second goal is just dirty, btw.
Our Micky Quinn wasn't svelte either but knew where the net was.Puskas was a freak of nature as when England players first saw him when the Mighty Magyars came to Wembley, some players said he looked podgy and unfit,he made them eat their words as he destroyed them on his own !

A player not many people know of ... Omar Sivori an Argentine player who played for Juventus. The best dribbler I have ever seen. He was famous for playing with his socks rolled down.

Aye, haha, good ol' Sumo. I think the pies finished him in the 93/94 season though, only got 8 goals all season didn't he?

As for Puskas, well, unstoppable...remember at Real Madrid when they had Puskas and Di Stefano leading the attack?! Jesus, I think between them, they scored nearly 400 goals at Real in 8 or 9 years. Unbelievable.

Watching that video, I imagine Juan Roman Riquelme was a fan of his. Their styles are almost identical; impeccable close control, incredible vision and awareness.

Never heard of Sivori before, thanks for the link.

I Was going to put Robin Friday up on the thread yesterday but got waylayed looking at loads of other stuff on youtube. Saw a documentary about him a while back. He was a proper flawed genius.
