Rudoni clear mom for me. Dovin close behind. Grimes showed what he will bring. Personally I’d have Simms and BTA in for extra training and just get them to control the ball. It’s a very basic skill at this level that neither have.

Said the same on Simms and BTA. You would think it is such an easy part of their game to improve. Simms touch generally is absolutely woeful.

Thought it was better last night tbh but agree it’s miles off what you’d expect for a pro footballer.

Rudoni had a really good second half in possession, but he and Torp were anonymous out of possession in the first half. We tried to play a block in the first half with a flat back 5 and Jamie Allen seemingly the sole midfielder times, trying to cover the middle as well as the wings. We were completely over run in midfield, and quite often Rudoni was just walking back.

It's stil annoying that we had a decent chunk of money and didn't buy anyone you could see having the quality to progress to being anything approaching a low level Premiership player.
Probably Wright is the nearest but he probably lacks the toughness needed.
MVE you're having a laugh.

Didn't understand the Postecoglu style high line at all . Across our whole defence we have a lack of proper pace , even MvE looks to have lost half a yard recently .

Only real plusses were Dovin who kept it respectable . Simms didn't hide after his mistake for the first goal and looked a threat second half and Grimes cameo was a sign of things to come centrally .

Write it off and start again , hopefully without the suicidal high line

Agreed.

If we think about Sheaf, Grimes, Saka, Wright and EMC all starting in our best team - we're going to be competitive in the run-in.

4-2-3-1 with Sheaf and Grimes as the defensive midfield 2 adding control that we didn't last night have as an underpowered midfield 3.

We go again.

Both bidwell and Latti do this odd thing where when a player is running at them they take some sort of power stance. But they are not close enough so the attacker just knocks the ball round them and they can’t cover.

odd defensive idea

Dovin is class but got caught out for the second goal. Grimes hit a superb corner which nearly got us a goal back. If he can consistently take corners like that, we have a new string to our bow

Its pretty simple.

THAT WAS THE BEST TEAM I EVER SEEN US PLAY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP FULL STOP. no idividual brilliance like last year. Just Pace all over the pitch what a team. Take it on the chin these are light years ahead of the leicesters and fulhams that went up.

Leeds will destroy teams at will. Move on.

I agree to a certain extent but they’ve drawn 3 times away in the last month

Also we’ve beaten PL teams recently that are better than Leeds. This idea that there’s no way to set up against these sides is nonsense. Oggy was saying after the match it seems like we were told to hold positions but that makes it hard to get close to people and mentally makes you sit off rather than challenge players. The high line and AAATB didn’t help either or whatever BTA was doing first half. I certainly hope Lampard and the players wouldn’t just be throwing their hands up and saying nothing could be done after that. Lots to learn and a chance on Saturday to try and do better.

The stats show them to be a dominant team even when they fail to win. We'll be judged how we bounce back at QPR, which is slightly awkward and needs to be well managed with this bloody Ipswich game. Digging too much into last night is pointless, we are clearly way off Leeds.

We aren't the same team we were last season. This team has been picked up off the floor. We're finding new ways to win without important players, its worked well, but sadly it wasn't enough against Leeds.

I'm glad someone else has noticed this about Bidwell.

Neither closing down nor blocking the route.qq Just standing in total no mans land allowing the attacker to do what he wants.

MVE also guilty of it but at least he has the pace to cover that Lati and Bidwell don't.

Edit: aww the grendel and boosh laughing emoji double act, so sweet.

Not sure why Lats gets special treatment when Thomas Kitching and Bidwell were all shit too tbh but seem to be above criticism. Missing the ball, playing it straight to them, losing their man, wild lunges out of position.

I think the idea we’d found some unstoppable defence was shown to be a nonsense. We’ll need better in the summer.

Also we’re without Wright, Sheaf and Mason Clark. Those three on form and Grimes in and I think were a totally different proposition

Leeds movement killed us last night. We didn’t look mobile enough across the whole pitch to handle it. They’re top of the league for a reason so not going to get too upset but a good reality check as to where we are

The three other players were certainly clumsy, but they didn’t make unforced errors in the manner that Lati had.

Leeds are just that much better than us and really shouldn’t be in this league still.

I just punished myself by watching the goals again. I knew they were woeful already but what the actual fuck even is that pass from Simms? The second one Lati proper runs in as if he's going to deal with it then just leaves it last second, i can see why Dovin was thrown off... absolutely awful. Best to get it out the way in a game you'll probably lose anyway i suppose.

Funny game football. I thought Simms was our best player and battled very well despite being isolated. Bobby Thomas should be dropped in my opinion he was woeful in possession tonight, not for the first time. Dovin made an error but then showed his class for the remainder of the game, good to see that reaction from him. Grimes looked like the player we needed for 90, shame we didn't start him. Asante ineffective, game just didn't suit him. We'll be fine I think we'll bounce back, they were just better in every department

What we don't know for the second is whether Dovin shouted for it.

If he did, then it's fully his fault. If he didn't and Lati just left it with no call then they have to share the blame.

The ball had already rolled into Dovin’s arms before bobbling back out again - it was a horrible mistake from Dovin, arguably the most egregious GK error of the season so far.

The most egregious goalkeeper error this season is not having Dovin in goal all season and wasting time with the other 2 training cones.

It was as much as Lati's blunder as Dovin. With respect that's clear to anyone with a brain.

There was no need to block Bogle, he wasn't getting to the ball on the trajectory it was moving at.

The lack of communication between the backline is something I've been repeatedly banging the drum on all season. It's one factor behind why we've consistently conceded poor quality goals all season.

The ball was literally in Dovin’s hands. The communication from both players was poor, but it needn’t have been fatal if Dovin had just held onto the ball like he’s supposed to.

No it wasn't. Watch the highlights back. Literally at the moment Dovin was about to collect the ball Lati rushed in front of him. It was completely bizarre.

They were very good but tactically we were all over the place and the players were just not playing at the level of which is expected of them last night ..also footballers failing to do basic things costing us goals it was an easy night for Leeds

Just watched it back - that’s not what happened. This is where Latibeaudiere stops his run. Dovin could and should have claimed the ball at this point but didn’t. He had a great game in the second half but this was a huge cock-up on his part.

You said Dovin had already claimed the ball which was wrong.

At the point he was about to claim the ball Lati ran in front of him. If you think otherwise I'd recommend glasses.

Exactly. Leeds having the quality they have doesn't excuse poor performances and our failure to execute the basics.

They were good, but certainly in the first half we made them look considerably better than they were.

He sets his own standard - so when he actually holds a ball with his back to goal and plays someone in people are astounded. His overall play given his age, experience and physical presence, is just not good enough.

Honestly watching it back I’m more concerned with what Bobby Thomas was doing miles from anyone playing everyone onside.
