According to a reporter on Sky Sports News

http://twitter.com/SkySportsPeteO/statuses/91788478362288128

Skysports.com understands Leeds have made an enquiry for Coventry captain Sammy Clingan. #LUFC #CCFC

This is getting very depressing. I don't see him or the club saying no to this.

Its only a rumour so until he has joined Leeds I'm treating it as such.

If our best player leaves then we might as well forget it. If SISU, and I realise it's a big if, accept anything less than 3 million for our new captain then they are even more of a disgrace. Like others have said I'll take it with a pinch of salt until either the club or player confirm it but I'm afraid with our financial plight other clubs will constantly sniffing around our decent players knowing that they can get them on the cheap

This could end up being worse than administration. We could end up still having the financial plight but also losing all our best players!

It's not just the player leaving that would be a factor if Clingan did go to Leeds - its the hole that would be left behind and the demotivational effect on the squad!

Would the cash gained from a sale be re-invested in players - we all know that most likely we would buy cheaply and the quality of the team would lessen again. These are depressing days for City as when you read a headline about a possible bid we all expect the player to want to leave. We know they'll be offered a better wage, better prospects and a stable club - if you were in a players shoes (and had no sentimental ties to the club) would you stay?

I can safely say all our initial optimism is lost, only for depression and a sense of the inevitable for CCFC. We are in the dark, and to see a title like that makes the fans preverbial heart sink as we are well aware to what it translates SISU will be rubbing there hands and with no Ranson we wont hold out for a suitable bid - Sad, sad days

Selling our newly appointed club captain at this stage, particularly with our lack of cover, would confirm that SISU have no plan beyond finding enough cash to see them through the next short term crisis.

On the other hand, telling Leeds to shove their offer would give us all reason to hope that perhaps they really have a stategy to move us forward (albeit slowly).

If the rumours of a sale to Leeds are true, then clearly the guy must be sold to help balance the books and avoid administration.

Because we all know admin is worse than death!

Seriously we have more of this to look forward to if we aren't taken over/ receive fresh investment. SISU must go!

I think only the most optimistic city fans truly believe that a peanuts offer for our best player won't be accepted by the current board

How long would thorn stick around if clingan goes, followed by juke ? I'm hoping hoffmans has a word in his ear telling him to stick around.

I'm afraid Ben Turner will be the next to leave. Putting two and two together and probably coming up with 104 but Brum just sold Johnson to wolves, need a new centre half and Ben is a brummie lad. God I'm in a good mood today aren't I!

How things change!!!!!

I use to enjoy this time not so long ago the excitiment of which new players we would sign - yes we've always sold some but there's always been a couple of decent signings to balance it or indeed make the team better.

Damn that seems like the distant past!! Now I can of dread looking on here and ready how far we have fallen as a club and what bit of the club is being chipped away at today. But as a supporter we still look on trying to stay positive and feeling totally helpless at the same time.

Here's hoping they are told to run and jump!

Before we all slit our wrists or jump off the nearest bridge ..........

They made an enquiry, bet they have asked about lots of players at different teams thats what happens in the transfer window. It does not mean that there is an offer or it has been accepted or that SISU are interested in the first place in doing a deal. All players have their price admittedly but are they really looking to sell?

It wouldnt be the first time that they have let a contract wind down now would it, so why assume they are not prepared to do that with the player who has just been made captain. Got to look at how much it would cost to replace him because they would have to - does that stack up in terms of cash flow.

I refuse to get paniced by this until there is a deal done - keep in mind for all things CCFC "believe it when you actually see it"

If i were Clingan i'd be pushing for a move - we're a sinking ship and leeds would be a good opportunity, not to mention the fact they'll offer him a far better wage than we would.

Last year of contract too, really cant see sisu turning down any kind of credible offer

Tough season ahead....

Said this on a post the other day Clingan or Juke will be gone before start of the season followed by Turner as soon as he is fit, sisu will not put anymore cash in they will just use what is left to mortgage. And the Players are the last avenue that they can get money now and for what to pay Eastwood and O Donovan wages. We are really in the shit and anyone who thinks not showing the feelings to sisu isnt going to change anything ,, well something has to be done because these clowns are walking all over us and laughing at the same time.

Bad times to be a cov fan i'm afraid. This could be a very difficult season unless something dramatic happens that changes our fortunes, perhaps a new owner? The sisu out banners will be out in force if the bid is accepted.

What a bunch of useless cretins SISU really are. WHY THE HELL does Sammy Clingan only have a year to go on his deal? He's our captain and best midfielder FFS!

We need this takeover desperately.

If Clingan is sold by SISU the fans HAVE to go mental. No more pussyfooting around, none of this "you can't keep an unhappy player" crap and making excuses for SISU.

We need to stand up and fight for our football club.

Let's face it the reason a player is unhappy is the way the football club is being managed!!!!

If that excuse is banded around then it re-enforces what we all think is happening and SISU are just treading water until we sink!

Clingan hasn't said he is unhappy. In fact he was delighted to be named captain of this sinking ship for some reason ha ha!

Let's sell all our good players for a combined £2m, pay the debts off for 4 months.

Good luck finding us investment when we are in League 1 playing our youth team, SISU.
