Leeds home game against Derby is supposed to be live on Sky tonight. Slight problem though as they aren't letting Sky into Elland Road. Their owner thinks they've been on too many times , this is the 9th game, and its affecting attendances.

Sounds interesting, I wonder what the outcome will be. Surely it is on a contract?

Apparently the need over 4 hours to setup minimum so if they don't let them in very soon its not going to be on.

Will be interesting what side the FL takes, especially if other clubs voice concerns over the number of live games and / or fixtures being moved to times that are difficult for supporters.

Looks like the BBC have said they will be charged with misconduct.

Sky pay north of what the club lose through lower ticket sales anyway. Potential to earn more commercially. What is his problem?

Apparently FL games can get moved to accommodate TV coverage at a much later date than PL. He is claiming this causes problems for fans and the team's preparations. Think he's got a point to be honest.

There's a logic that it gets people out the habit of attending games, so not only does the gate dip from non televised games, but overall it puts a stop on a certain number.

And take games out of the easiest time for people to go and they don't go full-stop, even when the games are on the traditional times... and football's all about habit.

He may be mad (and if his motives are individual negotiation of TV contracts then this will be a disaster on a par with the setting up of the Premier League) but in terms of pulling control back to clubs, fans, and away from TV, he absolutely has a point. Short term TV may provide an injection of cash, but long term it erodes what binds football together and makes it attractive to TV companies in the first place.
