Brentford sack Marinus Dijkhuizen and appoint Lee Carsley until the end of the season.

Sacking Warburton must rank as one of the worst ideas in a long time... Ha

good luck to Lee, always liked the bloke, cant see it ending well tho

Development Squad manager apparently, still what on earth were they thinking getting rid of Warburton?! the owners subscribe to that 'money ball' philosophy I believe, which led to them getting the Dutch guy in. feel a bit sorry for the bloke, 8 games is not enough. must have been a massive falling out

What is it with this apparent obsession with Dutch managers, none of them are any good including the two at Sunderland and Manchester United and going back to Ruud Gullitt and Martin Jol

Who was the foreign manager interested in the Cov job when Coleman got sacked? I think he may have been Romanian and had managed in the Champions League

And looking at the table, the 'Dutch manager at Man Utd' is actually top of the hardest league in the world. Not forgetting all the titles he's won elsewhere.

And then there's Guus Hiddink...countless trophies, took S.Korea (S.Korea FFS!) to 4th place at a World Cup.

Oh, and Frank Rijkaard...Champions League with Barcelona.

And Rinus Micheals...credited with creating the famous 'total football' Dutch side in the 70's.

Just because Advocaat is having a shocker at the moment (previously successful) doesn't mean that 'none of them are any good'....

I'd like to see him do well.

Surprised if Williams is coaching though; anyone else see the size of him at the legends game at the Butts a couple of years back?

London evening Standard says that Williams was employed as 'Logistics Manager' - he does realise it isn't a warehouse job doesn't he

Warburton walked because the management were changing the setup of the club. Which means they were going to sell all their decent players and give the manager a small budget to replace them.

Warburton has come up of it all well, he gained a good reputation at Brentford and seemed to take everything with his dignity intact and then has ended up at potentially one of Europes biggest clubs in a two team league.

i hope Carsley is a success and would still like to see him given a proper run here one day but hopefully not for a while.

A few years ago Willo was an agent. Seem to remember he was one of Gareth Barry's representatives at one point.

They went with what they call in America the moneyball approach. Basically they make all their signings based off statistics rather than traditional scouting methods as they believe this will get them best value for money.

I think he has the ability to be a good manager and was here at a dreadful time and has done a lot of good work in more junior roles.

Fair play, he was obviously way out of his depth and it wasn't helped having Shaw working alongside him. I'm still struggling to understand what the point was in Thorny bringing in Shaw.

I've always seen LC as more of a coach rather than a manger though

the Shaw thing was strange it was more keep the fans happy having a fans hero here (not quite sure why he was so worshiped though). As you say he was out of his depth at that time but I remember right he had only just packed up playing.

I thought lc would be a perfect number two and could make the step up, I have to be honest I have forgotten the order of things after Thorne.

lc may just turn out to a good coach of youngsters but until he is given a proper chance we will never know.
