So a player wanted by 3 championship sides isn't good enough for a league 2 team with 2 below average keepers already here? Im not suggesting we sign him I am amazed you think he isn't better than what we have in a lower league.

We paid a fee for Chris Dunne when we were a championship club

Personally I wouldn't give a fuck if a striker missed a thousand shots if he was still scoring 40 goals a season.

He hasn't missed many this year!

Plenty of highlights videos for Maidenhead on YouTube. Sure there will be some misses you can look at.

But you still don't want a proven league 2 title winning goalkeeper over Burge on the basis Burge might be good? No point continuing the debate if the answer to this is yes really. Burge isn't, and never will be, a decent league goalkeeper. We desperately need a more experienced or proven keeper.

That's not quite true, I'm not not a fan of burge at all. I'm in the get a more experienced keeper camp. I don't see why we are renewing his deal when RCC is equally as good/bad as burge.
But I don't believe smith would be a great improvement on burge even tho he won league two with Northampton.
It must say something in the fact Northampton have chose to look at alternative options.
I agree 100% we need a experienced keeper for league two. Burge, rcc, or smith ain't that for me

40 goals wow now that would be a luxury, 10 goals would be nice just think a striker who can hit double figures its what dreams are made of,,, Btw i didnt mean the comment to be as sarcastic as it appears, thats the trouble with txt speak

I would be happy with a team that creates that many chances.

Therein lies the problem. It's not just about having a goalscorer.

I'd take a punt on moussa again, sometimes certain managers get that extra bit out of players. Would have to be on our terms tho that suited the pay structure. I'd not break the bank for him as he's had a indifferent few years

I liked Moussa when he was here. Maybe Robins can get him playing again. However, I wasn't that impressed by his performance against us at Bescot this season. Did very little of note. This was only one game and if he could play in the way that he did in his first spell here he would certainly be worth having back.

I'd prefer to have Eddie Snoz from Lower Uddington Sporting and the like than more has-beens squeezing their last few thousands out of the game. I'd rather we can 12th next year and had a team that wants to play, has enthusiasm and will grow as a team.

This is the trouble with flair players we always expect them to perform but look at the past with Waddle, Barnes,Mcmanaman and of todays players Hazzard Ozil etc when they are on their game they look brilliant but on off days they look distinctly ordinary

Flair players at this level will be inconsistent otherwise they would be playing far higher up the leagues

Marc mcnulty released by the blades. I'm sure he has relations to cov and would be well capable in league 2

Maddison of P'boro will be snapped up easily. If not this pre season, next when clubs won't have to pay a fee.

Billy McKay at Wigan but scored goals for Inverness previously is available on a free I believe. Not had much of a chance at Wigan.

Really! Now there has to be a serious target if we are wanting to get out the league, a fair goals return at all his clubs.
* edit.... guilty of not reading properly.. transfer listed, a year left on his contract. Nice thought while it lasted..
Mcsheffery released tho.... ps I'm not suggesting we get him. Just saying

I think people forget how hit and miss Moussa could be. Great one week, completely anonymous the next.

Maybe its like Reid with us not releasing so dont have to pay him off, just want him off the books for nothing?

I'm just speculating but he could be available for free or a minimal transfer fee anyway. Which likely rules us out...
However he's only ever moved for a fee in 07/08 season for 150k now 10 years on and moved on a free a few times it's possible it's not gonna take a lot to take him on. Just wages is the question mark.
I'd imagine he'd be a fair earner now at Doncaster as when Doncaster signed him it was off the back of a season scoring 21 league goals for Swindon in league one, he'd likely be a high end league two earner next season should he drop back to league two
A unlikely target for us I feel.

Jon Mclaughin would be a fantastic signing. Just been released by burton and is the perfect age at 29. Doubt he would drop to league 2 unfortunately

Mathew Briggs ex Fulham has been released by Colchester. Lb option if Stoke or Haynes don't sign

Jordan Slew who once cost over a million has been let go by Plymouth. could be a gamble. must be something in there to have provoked Blackburn to splash the cash

Callum Reilly (ok not L1/2) released by burton.

He was a very marmite like player for us. But would know league 2 from his time with Burton?

Then again was out of favour during Robins era so maybe it's a non starter (found out from a source that was not CET so not linking him, just throwing his name out there )

i liked reillys work ethic,he made some direct runs and a good cross on him too

but his ball control and passing was pretty shite(2 attributes slade does not care about, but robins does)

so cant say i am too bothered either way.

Slew is terrible. Adams at Plymouth found that out and by Jan signed a replacement. Think Slew made 1 appearance for them in them last 3 months when they were going for promotion, say's it all. He's quick though i'll give him that.
Here's one with a shed load of injury risks attached. Barry Corr from Cambridge. Monster at this level but has knees worse than mine.

Wouldn't mind us taking a look at Harry Davis released from Crewe. 6 foot 2 centre half played 184 games for them in league one and two and scored a few goals as well. Went on loan to ST Mirren in January and scored 3 in 9 before getting injured. He was a reguar at Crewe before that but was frozen out after his dad was sacked he did used to be there captain.

Mansfield Town – Yoann Arquin, James Baxendale, Lee Collins, Matt Green, Ashley Hemmings, Kevan Hurst, Pat Hoban, Brian Jensen, Jamie McGuire, Scott Shearer, Corbin Shires

Colchester – Jermaine Grandison, Owen Garvan, Lloyd Doyley, Matthew Briggs, Dexter Peter, Femi Akinwande, Ben Wyatt, Brendan Ocran, Rhys Williams

Mansfields matt green isn't a bad player, 10 league goals this year, 16 last year.
Scott Shearer anyone? No thought not!!!!

Harry Davis is a good shout, useful at league two level and has plenty of experience. Leader material too.
He'd be on my list.
