Several weeks ago before any signings were made, I stuck a tenner on Cov to win League 1 this coming season and that means its a sure thing so get your houses on it Its worth mentioning that Cov arent my first team but they are my best mates and we get to games when we can, hence my presence on here, so I made the bet from a completely neutral point of view. Get someone in to command your midfield and you'll be laughing.

We need a defender too.

What odds did you get?

You do need a defender but I think thats a given should Keogh go to Cardiff or Leeds. Personally I think your young defenders are good enough for League 1, you just need someone with a bit more experience to guide them when things get tough over busy periods. The odds were 12/1 when I placed the bet which I thought were surprisingly hort considering the mire your club were in at the time with the transfer embargo.

so far this preseason is going well and leftovers from last year should be good enough for l1

im not saying we will win every game but to think were so bad were going down to league 2 right now is crazy imo

Just looked on sky bet. We are currently 11/1 to be champions and 10/1 to be relegated. So bookies still actually think relegation is more likely. Can't see it myself.

Completely different circumstances though. You didnt have a pot to piss in, even with regards wages, the sale of Jukebox (Jutkiewicz) was on the horizon and you had a batch of youngsters who hadnt played first team football. This season those youngsters have a years extra experience, they are used to the style of play, you can afford to bring in a few extra players AND you are playing in an inferior league. I can understand realism but not pessimism.

We did, and most fans were very naive when we went down. Thought we'd walk the league. Most know now we're not going to walk this league so straight away there's less expectation which takes a bit of pressure off. Just need to do a bit more business, freshen it up a bit more and we'll have a decent chance of getting top 6 (fingers and toes crossed)!!

will still dont have a pot to piss in and we have lost more players than we have brought in so we are infact weaker(numbers wise) than we were last season. the new signings are hopefully a start of things to come but, we need more players and quality ones at that

Technically not true. 6 youngsters have signed pro terms. Now, I know this won't be deemed good enough by some fans but we all know what we're dealing with and we know we've got to use our youngsters more than other teams.

Without splitting hairs, that is not actually true as we also have 6 Youth now on professional terms. I am not saying they are great but I am answering the highlighted!! Besides I thought SISU would have to do something other than sell all, as last year was disaster, slowly this seems to be the case. 2-3 more would be cracking (and needed)

I suspect this is why you have such a heavy pre season programme. Andy Thorn knows that you will have to call on the likes of Willis and Henderson and he wants them to build up a first team raport before the season gets underway.

how many of those youngters that we used last year are injured or have the possibilty of being sold ? like i say its not all bad news but we still have a way to go our big down fall last season was lack of numbers and this showed so much when we had injuries and players suspended. we cannot afford to be in the same situation this year !

This is it, we need numbers and that's why we have to use our youth system. I'm not using it as an excuse or anything, just showing that technically we're up on numbers!

Where did anyone say that?! The youngsters we had are ahead in their development because of last year, we KNOW we have to use youth. We're also buying players with talk of more. Get some experience in and it will be NOTHING like last year.

You might want to tell that to Crewe Alexandra that as they went up last season and they have one of the lowest average ages every season.

Anything less than a top two finish is failure imo,if we don't go up this season we'll probably be stuck in this shity league for years.

How have you come to that judgement?

Not saying it isn't...just interested how you make that statement.
