Who do you think will be challenging at the top this season? I think -

Sheff Utd
MK Dons
Bristol City
Preston

Leyton Orient will be in the play offs again I reckon, don't fancy MK Dons. Peterborough will probably make the play offs.

Sheff Utd & Preston autos

MK Dons, Peterborough, Leyton Orient and Barnsley in play offs

notable mention for Notts County who will fall short

Barnsley will be up there, the signings they've made are good (Winnall, Bailey, Turnbull etc)
Sheff Utd look decent, but I don't think they'll do as well as the bookies say they will. Top 6 at best, unless some of that Maguire money is reinvested.
I think Bristol City will win the league, no better strike force in the league than Baldock+Emmanuel-Thomas. Luke Ayling was a top signing too.

Top 6: Bristol City, Barnsley, Preston, Swindon, Donny, Sheff Utd

LO have had a change of owner and shipped a lot of players .

Reckon GJ will have Yeovil up there somewhere and like you I think Sean Dyche will have NC somewhere close .

McAnuff to Leyton Orient and Winnall to Barnsley are possibly the 2 best signings of the summer in League One for me.

Preston and Sheffield united for me. Top 2.

Playoffs are anyone's are per usual which is the excitement for me.

You generally find 1 or 2 are too good and run away like wolves did. The rest can be anyone's including a few surprises in the playoff like a yeovil or a Rotherham. Or maybe even Cov? You never ever know.

Didn't leyton orient sign Darius Henderson also on a 3 year deal. Not a one year I may add. Italian owners now and making a big investment. Sadly Russell slate is on borrowed time now an he is a good manager.

I reckon the top six will be:

1st- Sheffield United
2nd - Barnsley
3rd - Preston
4th - Us - Sky Blues
5th - Bristol City
6th - Leyton Orient

Falling just short will be:

7th - Peterborough
8th - Yeovil
9th - MK Dons
10th - Swindon

I think it won't be far off the end result, I can't see Yeovil or Posh really doing anything..

I'm convinced that Sheffield Utd, Bristol City, Leyton Orient, Preston and Peterborough will make the play offs. Last place is up for grabs.

But who have Posh signed? Sheffield United, Bristol City, Preston and Orient have all strengthened, Posh haven't really made any fantastic signings from what I have seen.

We'll struggle to make top half never mind top 6!

People really think we've improved on last season?

I want some of your drugs, they seem cool!

Jon Taylor is an interesting signing, Shrews were pretty poor last year and he still managed to have a decent season. Also re-signed Zakuani.
They have a good squad, but I personally don't see them making the top 6.

Jon Taylor (Shrewsbury Town, Undisclosed), Erhun Oztumer (Dulwich Hamlet, Undisclosed), Michael Smith (Bristol Rovers, Undisclosed), Gabriel Zakuani (Kalloni FC), Ben Alnwick (Leyton Orient), Kenny McEvoy (Tottenham Hotspur, Loan).
Plus they've kept hold of the best striker in this league.

I am not on drugs, I think if we get back to the Ricoh and Pressley can get the lads to be consistent then this could be a good season..

Point taken, they've made a few signings but none that say that is a statement of real intent.

Assombalonga is only going to keep improving at the age of 21 and I think Mendez Laing will be a big player for them this year. They signed Jack Baldwin and Conor Washington in January for 500k each who are meant to be decent prospects.

Keep the expectations low, we're CCFC fans. I'm 30 and never known anywhere near a top 6 finish.

I fancy Barnsley, Sheffield Utd and Preston.
Dare not think where we will end up, be happy mid table but do have concerns.

What about the 05/06 season then when we finished 8th? The last few seasons there have been cause for optimism, but unfortunately due to not being able to keep players at the Club - (12/13 Season being McGoldrick) & (13/14 Season being Leon Clarke) - we have not been able to consolidate that momentum.

Interesting a few people have said Barnsley. Was speaking to a Barnsley fan a couple of weeks back who was very concerned by their summer business. Admittedly this was before they brought in the likes of Turnbull, Bailey and Winnall. A few Scunthorpe fans dont seem to be that heartbroken to lose Winnall either. Whether this is the usual bitterness you often see on here about a departing player I'm not sure.

That's what I mean, we finish 8th in 05/06, so logically we all think next year is our year, and look how we done, we finished 17th with a better squad. Now look where we are, heartache every season. Expectations too high with a club in an ever lasting pitfall.

really ?

8th in championship, followed by relegation and finishing nowhere near the play offs since.

"cause for optimism" ?

For me it's not so much about the signings as who the manager is. Preston will be there about along with Sheff Utd but then there could be a lottery. Don't think the sides that came down will necessarily do so well either.

Bristol City and Sheff Utd automatic with LO Preston in play offs and 2 places up for grabs. Not sure about any of the relegated sides and expect all the promoted sides to struggle except for maybe Fleetwood. Surprise package could be Crawley who have made some decent signings over the summer.
