Charlton both sheffield clubs and dont be surprised if leeds come in late for him. we dont stand much chance against those teams no matter what league they are in. considering we are the favs to be relegated would you advise him to come to us? sheffield wed are favs for his signature.

with that type of situation the club simple have to offer 6 g a week and 750g to the club, he is ours. we can not do that. therefore i doubt this deal will happen but would be pleased if it did.

It is all coming together now. Platt, fondue set and 750g of winegums and 6g of winegums a week. We might be able to manage that.

I know Cork isn't actually worth £10m now but he was just another signing that we missed out on. Henderson and Carroll were a lot more than that. I am just not anticipating that ALF is going to be bought for £35m in the future... might happen though

All I can say is that I hope so mate. I really do, but won't believe any of it until I see them running out on Saturday.

I'm desperate for us to sign this lad but as many have said, I'll believe it when I see it. I just don't trust our owners.

Every rumour linked with us hasn't happened so far and none have had any sources this transfer window so i doubt this one is true. I also read sheff wednesday and a number of other clubs want him so we would no doubt be outbid. hope im wrong though. Harewood suddenly seems an attractive signing unlike at the start of the season..

Don't forget 10% of any winegums involved in future transfers, and another 250g of winegums after he makes his international debut.

He's Fat Freddy Mark 2, only half as good. We'll do well to swerve this one. We could get a relatively proven player for that sort of money, and if we're spending that sort of cash I'll be amazed.

There are two ways to look at this situation.
1) you can be excited now and then be disappointed when it doesn't happen
2) you can disbelieve it now then when it happens you feel excited

I don't believe anything with the City until it happened. I didn't believe they had built the Ricoh until I had physically been in it. Same with any player. I won't believe it until they line up on a Saturday and even then you have to remember the Jarni incident.

Rotherham chairman seems to be using our name to attract attention to the fact that he is willing to listen to offers and if a championship team is looking then others will follow.

Im not sure AT would be happy at his statment as we will be outbid by any other interested parties..

If it is going to happen why wait till Thursday and allow others to scupper the deal (s) ..... surely after the King saga they would just get it done?

Will believe it when I see it

Notice the only other teams interested are Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday... Don't want him, he's nothing to show he won't be another Freddie Eastwood...

How about this then, the rotherham paper!! it is happening, whether or not he chooses us or we can afford him is another matter.

MILLERS striker Adam Le Fondre is being linked with Coventry City.

Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart said there had been interest from the Championship outfit and that there might be developments this week. Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be interested.

It leaves manager Andy Scott wondering whether he will have Le Fondre to call upon for Saturday's League Two opener against Oxford United at Don Valley Stadium.

Rotherham are understood to want more than £500,000 for the player.

Striker Tom Pope, meanwhile, has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. The 25-year-old, who joined for a fee of £150,000 from Crewe two years ago, has been out of the first team picture.

There's too many people saying the same thing for there to be nothing in it. However, doesn't mean he'll sign for us. The rumour is he won't be a Rotherham player come Monday.

Will he be any good? I think so. He's not like Freddy & Baker, relying on skill, he's a poacher type, like Nicky Maynard at Bristol City, and those type of instinct players tend to make it at this level.

Not just Eastwood and Baker. In recent seasons there have also been Andy Morrell, Robbie Simpson, Roy O'Donovan and probably others I can't think of right now have all been reasonably prolific.

The problem can't always be the players, there is something inherently wrong with this club and I think it's partly us. Our expectations always too high, but understandable after we've been starved so long.

Let's hope if we pull this one off, that it's different.

What he has more than Morrell from what I can see is pace. If you can be a goal poacher and quick to boot all the better. Noticed from that 50 goal video that there are a few where he's put clean through on goal and he has been able to out-pace the defenders. Pace is an extra string to your armoury.

He seems to be a natural goal poacher who has a bit of speed about him.

I always think how little goals we score in that situation. Where somebody is put through and is one on one with the keeper because they are quick.

Andy Morrell - was played most of the time as a winger! Not really given a chance as a striker here but wasn't as prolific over a sustained period like ALF - yes, he scored 34 in only 45 games in the 2002-03 season, BUT only scored two goals the entire previous season
Robbie Simpson - wasn't really the same as he didn't have a record of 80 goals in 180 appearances as ALF has, he was a lot younger & not a league player - played in the conference,
Roy O'Donovan - came from Sunderland not lower league - again, not decent record over a sustained period of time & not really had a chance to show what he can do.

surely that would read as;

Straight cash offer = £500,000
Cash + O'Donovan = £750,000. Think an extra 250 grand seems fair for them to have to take him off our hands doesn't it?

I doubt O'Donovan will be willing to drop down divisions

It's only dropping divisions if you're getting first team football, which O'Donovan hasn't been. By bringing in AlF suggests he still won't be.
