I would rather a youngster with potential to be a top player than one we know is bottom half championship at very best which also saving thousands of pounds a week.

I definitely wouldn't be sad to see Lati go but on the other hand I wouldn't want a raw 18 year old coming in who's hardly played anywhere either

I don't think he was suggesting an 18 year old CB, more someone 21-23 young but still developing but with potential to develop, and who has had some experience already even if at league one.

I'd be happy for him to stay and see the season out, but we no longer need his versatility, and he isn't really outstanding in any position, so you can see the mileage of bringing someone in a little younger with higher ceiling for development.

Lati is a good 4th choice to have. Has experience, can cover a couple of positions and seems like a good pro.

I think he'd probably prefer to leave if he can get more minutes elsewhere, but if that doesn't happen because we don't let him leave I don't think he's going to cause problems. Of course that's easier to stomach when the team's flying and winning a lot.

I guess it will depend on if anyone is interested in him (I'd have thought there would be teams who were) and if FL is happy to let him leave as he thinks we've got sufficient cover.

Of course a lot can happen before the transfer window and who knows what injuries or suspensions we might pick up before then.

Its amazing that Stoke haven't come in for anyone yet. I was expecting bids for Lati and Eccles

Unfortunately even if we don’t get promoted, a lot of the squad will still be off and we have another rebuild on our hands.

He is around international football, he speaks well. If he is being constructive behind the scenes then he is a good deeper squad option.

Jamaica lost 2-0 to Curacao of Gervane Kastaneer fame (and, yes, he's still in the Curacao squad, although don't think he made the match day squad against Jamaica). As it stands, Gervane Kastaneer could be going to the World Cup.

Lati was 23 when he signed weren't he, what would be the point really?

Why? They are 1 point of third, I think MR is looking for better than Lats. (No offence to lats) and its not as if lats was a regular under MR anyway.
I cant see Eccles moving from here to Stoke, and I think he's rated far higher be the club than some fans imagine.

Lati started the majority of games (9 of 14) under Robins last season. Started 28 games the previous season including 14 of the last 15 matches.

I’m no fan of Lati’s at all, but as 4th choice he’s fine.

I’d rather have him playing than a completely untested teenager.

Rather we use him as a backup DM to be honest (when Grimes needs a rest)
His best games have been there for us. He's not quick or big enough to play CB. His close marking, and tackling are his assets, and he's technically good, with a solid pass on him.

It’s what we need to do if he has the potential.

CB is a funny position because you ideally want 4 in but when you have a working partnership neither should get dropped so the 4th choice gets very little game time.

I think the ideal situation would be to move Lati on and have a younger prospect in that wouldn't want immediate game time but we'd be happy to have developing with the first team and play a few games here and there.

No way, his experience will be needed to cover the inevitable mid season injury crisis.

We have a small squad so lets move on another player who played a lot of minutes last season.
Duh, Lati has been injured and has had no pre-season. That puts him a long way behind our other players.
Lati played virtually every match for Jamaica, but not this week. That says he is not match fit, hence his absence on the bench for the Sheff Wednesday match.

I don't know why everyone is obsessed with the idea that he's good cover.

Whenever he plays we leak goals.

Yeh I was almost being gaslighted into believing it but then if I actually saw him starting a game I think I'd have a panic attack. He's ok in a back 3/5 but in a back 4 he's always looked way off it and the famous Lati flop away at Norwich was the final straw for me.

He sounds more versatile than he really is. Good guy, good pro but I think he’s a real niche player. He’s a CB for a back 5. We should look to move him in and recruit someone who is a specialist CB in a back 2 and is prepared to bide their time for opportunities.
