I always shut down my laptop after using it, but lately it keeps waking itself up and going into sleep mode. So when I wake up in the morning, the lights on the front are blinking away. I'm the only one with access to it.

Have you tried the usual Malware Bytes scans?

Although if its fully powered off, for something to power it on again it would be pretty extreme.

I've seen it happen in desktops where you shut down and it decides to come back on of its own accord, tends to be the power supply on the way out and replacing it sorts it right out. Not sure if the theory applies on laptops as obviously components aren't as easily swapped out.

Hard to diagnose without knowing the laptop model, software setup, which devices you might have attached, any recent changes you might have made etc etc etc. Someone else's little help guide: Windows 10 won't shut down - fix - Win10 FAQ
Personally, I might suggest one possible simple solution: if you tend to use the laptop with the power supply attached, first fully charge the laptop, then disconnect it from the power supply and only then try shutting down. Restart with the laptop disconnected from the power supply and off you go. I've seen that work on some dell laptops.
