I mean it’s the 15 point lead that’s disappeared over a 15 game period that’s probably prompted this….

that being said, you’re confusion over this thread is correct. I’m still reasonably confident he can get us out of this. Reserving my opinion to Monday night

Maybe we should go back to being near relegation zone for half a season. That way we never build a 15 point lead and can't lose it

I can understand losing games like vs Birmingham away...we were genuinely unlucky and performance was good..but recently performances are really concerning.

Is the club even ready to be in an automatic promotion battle. I mean its not a dig and if we aren't ready nothing for club or supporters to be embarrassed by. Certainly the fans are ready and the attendances and ground are. However do we have the resources to build a quality squad in depth? The ability to pay the wages demanded by the type of players that are season changers? Like I say genuinely not cross, saw this coming though maybe not playing as poorly. What do we think?

He will have got us to the play offs 2 seasons out of 2 on relatively slim resources, (assuming we finish top 6) so I wouldn't want to see him go, but fuck me, it will be heartbreaking to blow this.

I doubt we'll get another crack at the autos for a very long time

Lampard hasn’t found a way for us to pick up points on the road since Boro. Yes there’s been injuries, fatigue etc but he should have tweaked the formation to at least pick up draws or even clean sheets. Every point counts and setting up the same formation week in week out doesn’t work.

He has always struggled to organise a defence. Every team he's managed has been very poor defensively and conceded a lot of goals.

What I don't understand is how we've gone from looking so good going forwards and blowing teams away even when defending poorly, to barely mustering a shot on goal against a team that had won 1 in 7.

All fair comments, and I don't think anyone expected the early form in their wildest dreams, and I think most accepted that it would dip to a degree.

However, the degree that it has collapsed is alarming. We now essentially have to reproduce genuine promotion form to stay ahead of rivals, and that now looks like it will be very difficult. The frustrating in thing is that the hard work had been done, we didn't have to maintain that form over the rest of the season, but still had to perform at a level that should be expected of this squad. Losing to Ipswich doesn't bother me, even twice, but the same mistakes are being made every week, and since November, the away form is that of a team fighting relegation.

I don’t think you can blame lampard for these players, particularly most of that back four, for having a soft underbelly. We’re in this position because of him and it’s crunch time. Who wants it enough in that side today judging by that performance?

I have said before how a lot of teams have really raised their level against us. This week neither had, they were both very unimpressive.

He doesn't have a change of plan.

Yang, esse, saka, emc. Just rotate them and rotate simms and Wright but hope one of them actually does something.

Im sick of it. Robins was the same near the end. Never ever changed formation just revert to like for like in a system that isnt working.

Its stubbornness. Even bloody Gurney can see it

The money we would get from promotion if used well would set us up , no team besides parachute teams is really ever ready to go up , you have to hit it head on like sunderland

QPR have a lengthy injury list, scored 2 and could have 4.

We look so fearful

Rushworth has pulled off another world class save to avoid going behind first half. This is the second easiest away game we had left and we should have lost comfortably.

It's why I said relatively, but we're still miles behind a lot of the teams around us.
And now you can throw Blues and Wrexham in to the mix alongside the parachute teams

If we blow this, I can't see us making the playoffs next year. The league will be really strong, and we'll lose a number of players.

You can blame him for persevering with such naive tactics away from home when defending a lead though, on 4 or 5 occasions now.

There has been a perfect storm of having a virtually unchanged squad with parachute payment clubs performing well below par. It will not happen again for a long time.

This was the year, it is just never going to happen if it doesn't this time.

Really poor performance today. Even after 35 minutes there a lack of energy, desire and aggression in our play. Just slow and boring and then we went 1-0 up and you’d think that would give us a lift but it didn’t.
All ifs and buts, but if we beat Oxford and Boro lose at Sheff U and Ipswich lose or draw at Derby and then we beat Boro, the gap is back.

Performances are worrying though. You can see he’s tried to tighten it up today but we looks fearful rather than getting the bit between the teeth. He has to change it and today I thought he would but he hadn’t.

I understand the questions raised at having such streaky form but very few teams in this division should be sacking their manager for finishing third, and we are not one of them imo

If we don't go up this year, it'll set us back another 2 years. Another rebuilding job for someone. Lampard simply has to go if we don't go up.

If we blow the autos then I can actually see us missing out on the play offs altogether. Need some bodies in and some strong characters to stand up and some thick as fuck tactics need to change.

I’m absolutely fuming that we’ve bottled that
Points lead completely and made everything so much harder and more pressurised for ourselves.
But fuck me calling for the managers head whilst still in automatic places is absolutely mental behaviour.
We went through a bad patch of form on the way to the playoffs last year, losing away to luton and plymouth who both ended up relegated, but he steered us to the playoff lottery.
If we dont get promoted from this position, he’ll go and this season will go down as a monumental failure, but he has earned the right to see the season out.
Fuck me some of you were calling him a tactical genius and a future england manager a few months ago.

We were 13 points clear of 3rd 2 months ago, regardless of our start any manager with our form for the last couple months would be on thin ice.
