I really feel Luis Binks has got off lightly here. Easiest left footed clearance ever and he shanks it in with his right. Probably worse than Kitchings top corner finish own goal in many ways.

He wasn’t even close to the ball, the useless plank completely lost all vision and control to thunder into Kitching who had been having a great game. I’d only just got over Burnley and his pathetic attempt to masquerade as a keeper at Plymouth

He did essentially the exact same thing against Burnley.

I don't agree, because as I keep saying he bottled 2 easy catches just prior and elected to punch and I said to my mate after the first one his heads gone, I knew an error was coming.

He made harder catches in the first half than the two he bottled, really strange that suddenly didn't have the confidence to make them.

That’s all modern keepers tho. Dovin never catches easy balls either.

The cameras zoomed in on him just before kick off, he looked on edge even then.

To add to your point, if you take out all of our wins under Lampard, we have won 0 wins and that is relegation form.

Look , the 10 game run we rode our luck at times but all teams do ..i will say we never really convinced in alot of matches but we got the results , how we won at Wednesday will remain a mystery .

The last 9 or so games haven't been good enough and arent too far away from what we did early season but this time we arent dominating matches either and the stats arent showing we deserved much .

But we are where we belong on balance and thats that , we are 6th

He does under his bar when unchallenged.
And Collins made harder catches first half.

Thinking back in the first half, Morris was talking to him a lot, obviously I don't know what he was saying (though can imagine) and couldn't see if that was happening 2nd half but could that possibly have got to him?

As for diagnosing medical conditions from the stand, I don't know what's wrong with Collins but its clear something is.
That's not being an amateur physchiatrist it's just spending time on this planet with other humans and being able to tell when something is seriously not right.

I've always seen that as a continental trait.

Dovin's incredibly young for a keeper, and has come from a much less demanding league. I'd expect this kind of thing to improve with him relatively quickly.

A good keeper knows when to punch and when to catch.

The home form since he arrived is no fluke though and stretches back to November. It’s on the road where things have really tailed off.

No it doesn't. We're talking about this season.
If you want to go on about last season fine, but that reflects even more badly on Lampard because even though I've never been a Collins fan he was playing far better than he is now so what's happened to him?

I empathise with Lampard because neither Wilson nor Collins is a good choice. It does baffle me that they’ve extended Wilson’s contract if he’s not going to play.

Going into to the summer, the recruitment team know they need to get a new keeper in because it’s not acceptable that Dovin’s injury has been this debilitating.

Yeah home form is excellent. Whether it’s the squad or the manager we have real trouble when things aren’t going our way IMO. I suspect the squad as we were saying it before Lampard.

And the home form is over a pretty long period of time. Under MR we lost 4 out of 6 home games, under FL it’s 2 out of 15. Credit where it’s due for that.

I don't think we should have ditched 5 at the back away from home. Easy to say in hindsight

I’ve been guilty of this, but we’ve underestimated just how difficult playing Hull, Luton, Plymouth and Derby would be in the last stretch. The latter 3 teams are in 6-9th in the form table at the minute. We all knew Sheff U was probably going to be a write off.

To only pick up 1 point from the last 5 games has really made the task of a Top 6 finish more laboured than it needs to be.

It’s a lesson for the coaching staff that we need to keep things tighter in away games like we did yesterday.

I really don’t like 5/3 ATB. You never see the top teams in the division playing it and for me it’s an admission you can’t set up a back four. But needs must and one thing I would level at Lampard is he seems quite inflexible both in game and in responding to likely opposition set ups. We all know how Plymouth and Luton would play and we struggled.

That was a very fair point about wanting to install his tactics, and may go some to explain his perceived rigidity.

Hull we drew because we wasted so many opportunities to put the game away. Plymouth we didn’t turn up, yesterday we fought well with 10 men for Collins to screw it up and Sheff U again, we didn’t turn up.

We should probably have 4 points from the 4 games which still isn’t great but would have seen the playoffs secure.

We're not a top team in my opinion
In this league the top teams are those currently 1 2 and 3.
And Sheff Utd are doing their best to prove me wrong for including them.

I think 4th has to be our aim next season so would be setting up for that. I think you write off the parachute clubs but try and be the closest of the rest.

We’ve dropped points in 4 home league games; Cardiff, Millwall, Leeds and Burnley.

Looking at the games we’ve won; Watford, Bristol City, Sunderland, WBA, QPR who were all in and around us when we beat them shows just how much we deserve to be where we are. We’ve won every 6 pointer at home and compare that to last season, is fantastic. If we finish 5th or 6th, I’m confident we can beat Sheff U or Sunderland at home.

We are v close to being a comfortable Top 4 Championship team. A bit more quality and depth, which we’ve gradually added, and some tactical tweaks and we’re there!

Don't agree about Plymouth.
We got our tactics totally wrong.
Teams are now happy to let us have the ball and wait to pounce on a error and expose our high line. Which they did, obviously the appalling individual errors helped.

I’m less sure. For 15 minutes we looked confident and they looked on edge. Then like Derby they grew into the game and we got sucked in to a scrap. The two performances were very similar.

This is a big thing people aren't giving Lampard enough credit for imo. People were genuinely starting to say they weren't enjoying going to the CBS anymore, you can find plenty of comments on here if you can be arsed. Our home form under Robins had become really concerning.
As it stands the crowd is once again engaged and I would think season ticket sales will once again go up in the summer.

There's always two or three teams who run away with it (usually the parachute teams), but normally there are also a handful of other teams that are above the rest.

This season from that latter group there's only been Sunderland (and even they've crashed of late), with there not being much between everyone from 5th down. The margins have been very fine between being in for a play-off shout and being lower mid-table also rans this season, more so than normal, it feels.

We struggled v Luton because we played with 10 men for most of it. Even when Walsh gets red carded, it’s still 50-odd minutes of defending that’s tiring.

Looking at the bench, there were no game changers there, maybe BTA. But when you’re defending set pieces as often as we were, you wouldn’t take Simms off who chipped in with a few defensive headers.

The run at 5-3-2 was quite fortunate for us, there were a few games we could’ve conceded first but didn’t and we went on to win those games. It flattered to deceive imo.

We need to master more than one system. There’s good reasons why we have only got one way of playing right now and it’s because we had to get out of a rut and sort out the home form first and foremost.

Over the summer the work needs to go in to learning a second set up, that we can use on the road or against ‘low block’ teams.

There's definitely a blueprint some teams are using for how to play against us.
Yes we might look confident knocking the ball about but teams are happy to let us do it and wait for their chance.

Playing a high line away against a team desperate for a win was always a risk and ultimately what lead to the red and a couple of the Plymouth goals.
