Bloody hell, even I would play for Sheffield United for that kind of money!

In that case, perhaps we weren't the ones who pulled out of the deal.

Concerns me we've seem to have a Robins style 'forgotten how we play'

Mve and sakamoto haven't done their overlap trick for the last 3 games at least. Grimes panicked last night and reverted to hooking blind which ive never seen before.
Thomas gets pellets for his passing but christ, wolf just hammers it anywhere.
We just lost all composure. And bringing Allen on just sums it up

Lampard also seems to be going stubborn. He's rotated Simms when he was on form. But mve has been poor for weeks and ill and he wont put in Preston player of the season in who is more than capable.

I was thinking more along lines of if they'd suggested that if all went well he'd be on a lot more money.

The story coming from Bamford and Wilder is that Lampard wanted him but Doug blocked it.

I have no reason to believe they would lie about that.

such a poor take, Wright was making recovery runs to the edge of our own box last night

People have this idea that he's lazy and it blinds them.

So you watched us barely able to put 2 passes together for most of the game, let alone mount an attack of note, and concluded that's Wright's fault?

He's never been a player that will singlehandedly carry the attack. And we don't need him to.

we didn’t need him to singlehandely carry the attack. He put no pressure on Kipre or O’shea. they bullied him all night

This a bit premature, he got the tactics wrong against Ipswich, it happens.

There’s a lot fixture congestion and players are being asked to play a lot of minutes in a short amount of time.

To a man, Ipswich do just have a better squad than us. They’ve got £15-20m players on the bench.

He's not really that type of striker though is he, despite his stature he rarely dominates defenders physically.

It does make me laugh, all the people here knowing exactly why FL didn’t want the players pressing their keeper….after he explained it… I imagine they were all wanting the team to press during the match Not if it was the right thing to do or not, but the sheer frustration of not being in the game at all.

we have pressed other teams keepers by angling runs to block an easy pass to a defender at the same time as pressing. How much time was wasted while the keeper just kept it at his feet? He looked dodgy when he was actually pressed once or twice.

I think FL did make some errors last night, and his frustration with the game made him respond about the crowd.

this was not the game to “hope” players suddenly return to form (Saka & Rudoni) and hope Brau, who has hardly played, will be the answer to Desilva missing.

it was clear early on the 1st half we needed to change things, but nothing changed

I also think he shouldn’t have brought Wright back in when Simms was having A good run of goal scoring form.

i also don’t think we should have been kicking long from our keeper all night, just giving them possession back every time.

all easy opinions after the event of course, as so many views on here are.

we’re still top, onwards and upwards

He's never been a good target man, I'm not sure why you'd expect him to become one overnight

Where did I say our poor passing was his fault.

If we're going to make tenuous links, so you watched our poor passing last night and decided that was why Wright hasn't scored since early October

So unless you win every single fucking game you can't be a good tactician it seems.

Is this SBT or Twitter/FB?

Be better

Wright was crap. It doesn't mean hes a crap player overall. But last night he was crap

And don't blame supply etc. he refused to engage in any battle with the opposition defenders. He doesn't relish that aspect which is main reason I wouldn't mind if he was sold and replaced in the future.

Check my previous posts I am not wright hater. I like him overall. He will score again for us but he's not playing well and it's his fault.

Wright hasn't scored since October because he's in poor form personally and our chance creation has taken a nosedive

Was blindingly obvious what our tactics were when the keeper had the ball, they’ll pass it round us and go through the middle if we went for him, once he released it then go….
Same thing happened against Norwich a couple of seasons ago when the crowd were going mental - maybe they’ve been told to do this cos we’ve watched how they play?

for me Haji was/is getting stick for last night but to be fair he had one opportunity where he got free and forced the keeper into what was a good save in the end. They were on him and to be fair everyone like lightning - how much time did Grimes get on the ball for example - not a lot. Aside from rushworth I don’t think anyone shone to be honest - Tats maybe.

they outdid us with their tactics to stifle our attacks down the flanks and we didn’t match them with the physicality - or when we did we got penalised ourselves.

Also on Rushworth how he didn’t get seriously injured after that save I don’t know - I thought he’d done his ACL Dovin style. Watch the replays it looks awful.

Because we rightly or wrong thought we could deal with them better if we tried to force them long from the keeper instead of having the possibility of them playing through the press and out numbering us in attack.

I think it was more to do with the performance team looking at the squad, illness and four games in the space of a week and concluding we just couldn't sustain a press for the whole game and the effort then impacting future performances. I certainly feel it would have been more effective to try pressing them early on to get control of the game, even if we had to drop off a bit later on.

Trouble with the low block tactic we played was that when we did clear it we then didn't have the energy to push out and the ball just kept on coming back in. At times, certainly in the first half, it was like an attack v defence training drill.

I think the decision not to press was a tactical one by the management. I also think it was the wrong choice.

Last nights game is gone, thursday now is the most important and is essential we get through it with not losing. The negatively is frustrating this group could not of done anymore than they have. They have done something only 1 other team has done to this point and id say done it with a lesser squad than those before.

Lets be realistic this squad has been asked to go to the well all season and have given all. We are still in a great position and still have a good squad, yes it needs help and a return to form of key players, but what a season we have had so far. Be patient and be positive about the club as its come on leaps and bounds and look forward to the remaining games.

Its over to Doug now, lets see if we are ready to take the next step and push on. Its a great platform to build off and id take the position we are now if it was offered at the start of the season. But thats all it is an unbelievable opportunity to push on, over to you Doug.....

Wright is a goal scorer. A proven one. They don’t tend to do much else. His link play is better than Simms but to be honest both have poor touch. That’s why they are both good championship players and that’s why they are playing in it and not higher. To be fair to Wright he had no service at all last night and wasn’t the issue.

I would have gone 5-3-2 and sat in to hit on the break, but the issue there is EMC then has no clear role and he’s been the man in form. I still don’t think we’d have got anything but it looked odd instructing the players to sit deep in a 4-3-3, like a mish mash of set ups.

At the same time, I've seen them play themselves into trouble pissing around at the back and actually thought an effective press would have caused problems. Once we'd decided to sit off though I wasn't sure why we were going 4-3-3.

That's not what I said at all though. I always stand up for wright. I'm just saying he was shit yesterday

I'm not asking for him to be sold. I'm just saying it wouldn't be end of world if we sold for a profit and looked elsewhere

If we keep him I have zero doubt he will add at least 5 more goals this season which could take us to the premier league in which case he should be remembered as a promotion hero by all fans

One last time. He's a good player. But he was crap yesterday. And if he can't become more physical I don't see a future for him with us in the premier league personally.

Don't think I've said anything controversial

Walton’s glaring weakness is with the ball at his feet. 2 trains of thought on this: you let him have the time but cut off his options, forcing him to go long; or you press him like hell knowing that he’s not a composed passer of the ball. We decided option 1 was best but with Wright, Rudoni and Torp on the edge of their box the second balls pretty much exclusively fell to their midfielders. I’d have pressed him hard.
