Listening to talk sport after the game and I think they have got it spot on.
Last night we got out played by a team that has just gelled, one that has vast experience and has had money big money spent on improvements.
Against a young side that, looked out of depth. He stated that now they have 'gelled' they will be pushing for play offs. We are not a too bad just lack that experienced leader., I think most people expected a win last night.

I think it was just a bad day at the office last night, bring on reading.

i expected a draw, i still feel thorn tactics were wrong. The diamond formation is not going to work in every game and last night we knew we'd get over-run in midfield and down the flanks. He needs to adapt to teams and styles of play.

Would agree with that, and said so before. There is no strong, drag em through the muck and mire, leader in our squad let alone team. Last one with potential for that was Turner.

The young lads need the strength of such a player especially when things start to go wrong. The older players need such a player to match their desire to. The fans need such a player to bolster their belief.

Sadly we are missing such leadership and could well suffer for it

Yes, a Wise/Hutchinson/Hignett type in midfield would be awesome. Someone with experience, leadership, and most of all quality. With the diamond midfield you can carry a player whose legs have faded but who can unlock a defence-something Sheff was doing last season. Jesus, can you imagine Hignett in the hole in this formation? Kevin Phillips would have added that from attack as well.

But it'll come down to wages, so we may as well forget it. Lacking an experienced leader and being able to do anything about it are two different things. I mean, I'm just lacking a beautiful wife and a vast fortune...doesn't mean I'm going to get it.

If we want a leader-and a defender who can defend and offer a goal threat-get bloody James McPake in the side ASAP. He could be what Turner was last season.

I agree with you, Nonleague. When the going gets tough, we need a real blood and guts player out there. 'Mad Jim' fits the bill. If you need someone who will lead by example in those circumstances, he's the man.
