One thing is for certain in my mind and that is we don't have enough defenders with cover to start playing a back 5. We barely have enough for a back 4. Competition for LCB is good between Binks and Kitching, but we are lacking decent competition for Thomas as RCB and only have Lati spare. Only 3 recognised full back / wing backs too in MVE, Bidwell and JDS

And a player in both positions on loan up there?

You make some good points but I think he will come good.

Goalkeeper is one of those positions where confidence and experience count for a lot and obviously at his age he doesn’t have a huge amount of experience.

Only our fans could call for Wilson to be brought back into the team ahead of an international goalkeeper.

Carry on with your logic and there is no point comparing players at all as there will always be variables? Maybe worth looking at their individual stats? I can't upload the screen shots but Collins is the best of the 3 overall.

I was only applying your own logic of selective ommision of Wilsons best season previously as it wasn't comparable in your view

But now you want to include his worst period in the team to compare with Dovin, even though it isn't comparable for the same reasons as you dismissed his best season.

If you want to compare Wilson of 20 matches last season to Dovin 20 matches this season then playing a different formation is a significant factor, particularly when the stats you shown earlier were showing total wins and total clean sheets which would be significantly affected by the system and other 10 other outfield players. (Which you presumably agree with as you are reluctant to give much credit to Wilson for all the matches won and clean sheets in the play off season)

Things like save % and expected goals prevented would give a better comparison, and the good thing about those is you can compare both players 'best' seasons as this will be less skewed by other variables and outfield players.

Completely bonkers isn't it. Robins is getting a lot wrong but playing Dovin over the bloke who spent most his career as a lower league sub isn't one of those things.

Kitching is 25 today. Starting to get beyond 'has potential' now and could be as good as he might get. Who knows

Kitching was a complete waste of money. Amount of own goals and red cards last season was unreal and our goals against was shocking.

Not exactly old for a centre back

Because the players themselves are completely different. Wilson played behind a back 3 mostly of McNally, McFadzean and Doyle in that season. Or do personnel not matter?

Plus we had Hamer and Gyokeres, genuine match winners who would have undoubtedly had been the difference in a number of games this season if still had them.

Wilson, who despite making a couple of good reaction saves against Spurs, then basically offers Johnson the whole goal to shoot at for the winner. That was desperately poor.

Just my opinion but I prefer Kitching to Binks….I like the way he can carry the ball himself now and again and create uncertainty in the opposing ranks.
Also I really am not sure what Dovin offers over Wilson right now. He looks like a poor mans Pickford and I don’t really rate him either

Binks for me is the better player. Kitching often has a heavy touch and has an awful disciplinary record for us.

Hasn't Binks picked up 4 yellows already?
