I just want to get in first that I don't want us to sign Kevin Phillips.
He would have been ok for us a couple of seasons ago but now he will be to old and obviously brum don't think he would be upto the task of the championship else they would have offered him something.

They were happy to use him in the Premier League and the cup for cameo roles, I can't see his quality being an issue. He initially went to Birmingham because they were one of the few offering him more than a one-year deal, maybe it's a similar thing now?

I'd love him here. Still looked class in the cup match.

He's one of those forwards who just has that striker's instinct isn't he? Hernandez at Man Utd is another.

A class act but not for 90 mins and for us it would not be a good investment as he would still command decent wages for cameo appearances - still rather have him coming off the bench than waster Freddy or Platini.

His movement in the cup match was unbelievable. I would love him here, like you say, just that natural goalscorer instinct. And Ashby, he lasted 90 minutes in the cup final, doesn't really have injury problems and has had his legs saved over the past couple of years a little. Didn't look anything but the best player on the pitch in the cup match so I would say he could still get 15 goals in this league quite easily. Wages could be a problem, of course but if he's not looking for anything more than a Championship club and doesn't want to uproot his family then maybe a deal can be struck. You never know.

If Kevin Phillips was asking for a realistic amount I'd snap him up, even at 37. I'd be surprised if he didn't play more than Carsley, and any young strikers training alongside him couldn't help but learn.

I like Phillips, I could see him and King working well together. One year deal, his goals could get us up the table.

If the money is right and thats a big if, he would be a great asset. This guy knows how to score goals.
