Nonleague will never agree with you ,Derby mid table under up and coming manager ,Just like when Ab signed him here, willing to pay 8+ times more ,Along with Perennial promotion contenders Cardiff tells me along with the other four or five courting him we've had a bit of a jewel among us ,I mean who's coming in for Wood ,Macca ,Bell or Baker.:thinking about:

Nonleague thinks that Bigi is a £25million pound player, and that Keogh, McPake and Deegan are some of the best players he seen at the club, and that Baker and Bell are also very good players.

Same sh!t, different day.

Keogh is leaving. So he is now average at best. So why did so many people want an average at best player to stay?

Hysterical thread. In both senses of the word.

I've read people on here saying that Keogh is an average defender with no class and poor positioning made up for by pace and last ditch tackling. This may well be true. In fact, let's go all out and say that this is true.

The question we then ask is, was he an asset to the side whilst he was here? Anybody who answers no to that question is probably certifiable. Therefore we should all be sad (but not surprised) to see him go. And as reasonable human beings, we should wish him all the best.

So we'll ask, will he be an asset to Derby, a side, not a hundred miles away from ourselves? Answer, very probably.

Could he play at a higher level than that? Very difficult to say. How about we see how he gets on at Derby first?

I think the point that nobody has come in for our other 'big name' players (Bell, Sheff, Baker et. al.) says a lot about how Keogh did last year if you don't trust the fan's voices.

The people who are saying how great they are...

Like I said, whether they have any beef behind them or just people getting worked up about nothing.

We won't know how good they are until the season starts though will we?

The beauty of football debate. You see for me none of the players lordsummerisle mentioned performed as consistently as Keogh - Elliott Ward especially. Both Ward and Leon Barnett are Premiership players though, which perhaps tells you it's not as big a feat as people like to make out.

Keogh could play a part in a squad for a lower down Prem team. He would do OK for a backs to the wall defence. Just like he has done for us. He would cut crosses out for whoever he plays for.

As I say, most consistent performer I've seen at the club since Roland.

So Keogh isn't being snapped up by any Premiership teams because he's too good??

Were you one of the guys who said that Boozy was far too good for us, and should be playing for Barcelona??

If the lord is getting away with comments like that I am reverting back to mine. AT would have got west ham up 10 points clear.

The problem with this is it's about opinions. Barnett was poor for us but we must have seen the worst of him.
Ward is very different to Keogh anyway but in my opinion always had sufficient ability to be a premier league player. He has issues with pace and sometimes concentration but he has played there.
The criticism at Keogh is unfair. He has been a great player for the club and has made the club a sizeable profit on the original investment. He may also hold his own in the premier league I don't know. I think Dann, Ward and Fox were better but I still rate him highly.

Never mentioned Barnet, was awful for us, but seems to be doing okay in the Prem.

Ward is a better player than Keogh, also doing well in the Prem. Dann, Fox, Warnock, Davenport all better footballers and defenders than Keogh.

Keogh moving from a team that got relegated to League One, to one that could possibly get relegated next year, certainly be closer to that than promotion.

Perhaps he was the one who phoned up CWR in Andrew Whings first season and said he will play for England and be worth £5million.

There is one slight difference here .There was no fee involved for Ward or Barnett that I'm aware, plus it took promotion to get there .However If keogh were free its concievable that teams such as West brom ,Norwich,Stoke ,West ham ,Wigan ,Southampton ,QPR and Reading would take him albeit, as a Squad player

For this to have been a fair comparison he would have had to say De Zeueu was superior to Keogh, then they would be equal in the ridicule stakes.

Some people always overrate our players! Keogh was good for us, not always consistent though!

Has anyone said that? Ridiculous if so. A very good signing and someone who gave full commitment as well as having ability. As stated I don't think he was the best defender we had since relegation but certainly one of the best.

True, Dann, Fox, Westwood, Tabb, Ward, all fell foul of that.

People saying that McPake was better than Dann, don't need Tabb, we have Baker, decent goalkeepers 10 a penny etc.

All incoming players are great, and outgoing are crap.

Keogh is neither, he's a reasonable Championship defender, who is moving to a reasonable Championship club.

Keogh has been very consistent in terms of playing almost every game and in the level of performance he has put in every week over the last 2 years. He would not have received various player of the year awards like he has by just being 'average'.

However he has stood out much more in the last couple of years as he has played in a very poor team. Would he have been as idolised if he had played in previous seasons gone by when we had some 'flair' players to get us out of our seats?

Keogh could play in the Premier League - of that I have no doubt. I came away from the majority of games over the last two seasons wishing the rest of the team could play to his standard. He's not average, he should be at a top six Championship side minimum (in my opinion).

I remember commentators being very glowing about some of Dann's performances for Brum 2 or 3 years ago. I see he was being linked with a move to Ajax today.

That'll be why it looks like he's signing for Derby then.

If Leon Barnett can then Keogh can - no worries. Better tackler and much better on the ball. Also - more versatile than most of the others he's being compared to in the thread.

You can't solely judge a player on who he plays for or moves to. I'm guessing you think Matt Le Tissier was crap?
