i dislike murphy with a passion so anybody know any realistic keepers we could possibly sign?
i like Tom Heaton and he's looking for a new club but is looking likely to sign for ipswich
i think murphy is just too much of a liability!

Murphy improved over the past season! I for one did not like him coming to our club and did not rate him, however he is a guy who knows league 1 very well, helping Scunny out of it twice in 3 seasons (I think it was). He is experienced and is a better keeper now than when we signed him.

We spent last season dithering over keepers, brining two in and no outfield players. I don't personally feel this is an area we need to improve on, not for this season anyway. We need to improve on the outfield players we have!

Murphy isn't terrible. He just isn't as good as Westwood. That's why you don't like him.

We are lucky to have a keeper as good as Murphy.

he's a good shto stopper but has little reach, can't catch to save his life, doesnt command his box and is useless coming for crosses but i agree he improved as the season went on but we don't have a good enough defensive record to keep a liability in goal for us!

I'm one of the few that has always stuck by Murphy. No, he's not as good as Westy, but he's the best we're going to get and not the big liability some seem to think. Yes he's prone to a few errors, but he is ironing those out!!

His goals against ratio is marginally worse than Westwood and he apparantly was playing in a much worse team. I suggest you apply your passionate dislike to areas that need improvement.

Useless coming for crosses? Numerous times last season he charged out to punch/catch.

Many sets of League 1 fans would love an Ireland international in goal for them.

Is he an Ireland international? 4th or 5th choice?

We knew when we signed him that he wasn't anything special. He's just all round okay. I can't complain with him. Maybe if we sorted our midfield so that we keep the ball up field he wouldn't have to deal with as much. We have had worse! Dimi for one. Who would you like that is so much better?

I thought he looked decent as well.

Last I heard though he's second choice keeper at Coalville, so releasing him seems like the right decision.

A goalkeeper is only as good as the defense in front of him. if he cant catch then the defenders need to be ready to hoof clear, TBH when i've seen him play he seems to command his box, and as for coming for crosses is it me or did he continually run the length of his box to go and punch some.crosses/corners? Murphy is a fine keeper and i like him no need to replace. PUSB

Exactly. People saw him hesitate in coming for crosses about twice and then just decided he was terrible at dealing with crosses.

We've just been spoiled by the years Westwood was inbetween the sticks so anyone else isn't going to match up as he was the best shot stopper outside the prem

Absolutely no chance of us signing a new keeper.

And we don't need to because Murphy is more than decent for this level.

I don't like Clarke's boots, so who do we think is going to be signed to replace him?

Wait til you see The Edge's and Malaga's boots! They deserve to have their contracts torn up just for their choice of colours too

I remember one of the two wearing some ridiculously bright ones at Hinckley, I think orange.

Malaga has a kind of illuminous yellow and orange pair, and the Edge's look Red although this is from a distance so could be orange. Still pretty bright either way

Not really there are plenty of regions why some want thorn out but I don't get the issue with Murphy at all. Other than Westwood who in the championship has been better (excluding Hedman in season 1)?

No. The logic regarding the manager is an 18% win ratio which is the worst since 1917. That is a damning statistic whichever way you look.
Murphy vs Westwood over a season is about 6 goals difference which suggests a marginal negative against a very good goalkeeper. This suggests he is worth retaining. An 18% win ratio is in my view not worth retaining. I actually, honestly have looked and cannot find a current manager with a worse ratio.

18% is almost as bad as Paul Lambert's first job. Boy, I'm sure they're pleased they got rid of him now, eh?

Tell you what. I'll wager £1,000 that Andy thorn will not achieve the same win ratio that Lambert currently has including that first spell after the same number of seasons.

If I win I'll only expect £500 from you.

We can give the proceeds to a nominated charity of our choice. Is it game on?

You expect me to take a bet using one of the best young managers in the country as a benchmark?

He hasn't worn well. It's very aging having to live up to the expectations of some you know.

Considering the unfairness of your bet, it's subsequently struck me that your avatar may be self pictorial, and that your next wager shall be three attempts at your name for you to give up your claims to the royal baby?
