For a long time I hated the way the acl-sisu spin machines divided City supporters but the move to Northampton has taken things to a new low with name calling and abuse. Fans will always have disagreements, but the move to Northampton is tearing CCFC apart so we have to talk about this, hopefully in a rational and reasonable way. Here are my six reasons for not going to sixfields for the Preston game on 25 August and I will be really interested to read responses.

1. The cold, hard reality is that every City fan inside sixfields helps the justification of the move to Northampton - individual reasons for going don't affect the big picture.

2. The move to Northampton is not temporary: if sisu wanted a new ground, land would already have been bought and a planning application submitted – talk of a ‘new’ ground is a smokescreen.

3. Support the team not sisu! We can go to away games or even watch from Jimmy's Hill (although my preferred option for Sunday is...

4. On 25 August we can support a CCFC team at the Ricoh - Coventry City Ladies (tickets are £5, or £3 for concessions).

5. Let’s think about the next generation of City fans – not going to sixfields is short-term pain for the long-term gain of getting CCFC back to Coventry.

6. If people want CCFC to return to Coventry but go inside sixfields, what is the suggested strategy instead of not one penny more and boycotting Northampton?

You talk about the ACL spin machine but also support said spin machine by carrying out point 3.

Is it 100% that it is permanent and not temporary or opinion before telling people it isn't?

So if you are going to travel and watch from the hill (and not give SISU money) then why not take SISU up on the free ticket offer and go in? Is there much difference?

You do realise that Coventry City ladies usually play their games in Bedworth, not Coventry?

You lose all credibility with point 2 - trying to dress opinion up as fact.

Six Reasons to go to Sixfield's

1. You get to watch our lads play and possibly win.
2. You get to do things your own way and not listen to a majority of people who you have never met before.
3. There is no proof that following the team while at Sixfields could make them stay there permnamently.
4. Not stuck reading a majority of posters opinions on Tim Fisher and there hatred for him on Sky Blues Talk.
5. Get to have a sing, song and banter with other fans.
6. According to the weather forecast will be a nice day.

Michael, agree with everything you say.
I'm puzzled by Nick's brief comments. They seem pointless. Just setting up to be contrary for contrary sake. With the utmost respect Nick.
I've spoken to a Warwickshire Council member at the weekend. They told me they have NOT received any proposals from Sisu, or Otium or Arvo or anyone purporting to be CCFC. NOTHING, not a thing, zero, zilch. Nada.

Why are they pointless? You haven't given any sort of reasoning as to why they are pointless or is it just because it isn't what you want to hear?

You travel to Northampton to watch from a hill because you don't want to give SISU money, you don't have to because if you can get a free ticket use that (you aren't giving them money then?)

Coventry City Ladies do usually play outside of Coventry so why would anybody want to go and watch Bedworth United Ladies at the Ricoh? They play outside of Coventry usually, the same as CCFC mens team do so what is the difference?

Also, it isn't 100% that it is a permanent move is it? It is just opinion.

".....You do realise that Coventry City ladies usually play their games in Bedworth, not Coventry?...." Ha, taking pedantry to new heights, surely.
i) Ricoh Arena is the ONLY football ground in Coventry that meets the Ground Grading criteria for the level of football that the Ladies play at ( FA Premier)
Ii) Bedworth Oval is the nearest non league football ground that DOES.
iii) the Oval is just 2 mlles from Ricoh and in a Coventry post code...you can get there without getting of 3rd gear....hardly the same thing?
iv) the main access road to Ricoh Arena also lies in....Bedworth?

Directions to help can be provided...

Yeah, it should really be NOPM to both Sisu and ACL if you're equally disgusted with both spin machines. Starve both of them = more chance of renogotiation. Starve one and you are favouring the other and putting them in a stronger position. Sadly, this lack of even-handedness is what I've come to expect of the Trust.

It is in Warwickshire, the same place people are going mad about SISU *building* their new stadium as it isn't Coventry? Rugby and Atherstone have a Coventry postcode so if SISU build their new stadium there it is ok?

Outside of Coventry is outside of Coventry surely? Why is it ok for one side but not the other? If SISU had moved us to Liberty Way in Nuneaton (if it was up to standard) that would have been ok?

While that is true, there is no evidence that they are going to build a new stadium either which given Fishers assurances that we would return to the Coventry area within 3-5 years you would assume you would expect there to be some. At the very least you would expect some land to have been purchased by now.

There is no evidence either way, so people shouldn't come out and make statements as if it is 100% surely?

But 99% of what is posted on here is opinion and even things that appear to be fact are always subject to change. I think you can only post based on your experience and what appears likely. I don't think you will find many people who genuinely believe SISU will build a new stadium.

You don't have to believe that SISU will build a new stadium to believe that the move is temporary. The most likely outcome remains a return to the Ricoh. The next most likely being the death of the club, then some way behind that you have the building of a new stadium followed by the least likely of all - a permanent relocation to Northampton. Weirdly though, some people seem to think this least likely outcome is a 100% nailed on certainty (but naturally never back it up with anything resembling evidence).

I agree completely, but I don't see the point in lots of posts saying "you cant say that because its not 100% certain" when in reality nothing about the club is certain at the moment.

The same for me, the legends game as an example just didn't have the same buzz about it as a proper match day. The result didn't matter.

It was okay, brought a tear to my eye to see how low we have descended to but I'm not going to drag my arse to the Ricoh from SW Leics every other week just to watch some contrived event or another. I will not ever attend Sixfields either, so sadly i'll look for other forms of entertainment.

Thought I had my Saturday afternoon sorted - watch Telford, Shrewsbury or Wolves.

Turns out that Telford and Shrewsbury are both away and Wolves play on Friday night.

Bet bloody SISU arranged that just to piss me off a bit more!

Used to watch Wolves most weeks when I was a kid - until I was old enough to travel to Coventry on my own. Used to stand on the South Bank and support whoever was playing Wolves....

My first 2 trips to Wembley were with Telford in the 1970 and 1971 FA Trophy finals. And their left winger (George Jagger) used to clean our windows!

Haven't seen so much of Shrewsbury over the years - but I was born there.

Much prefer to be watching City. First chance will be at Shrewsbury - from the away end of course!!

1. It's not our team when playing at Northampton
2. Vast majority are still doing exactly what they want to do.
3. Your a fool if you think they will move to a new stadium within. 5 years. And if they did it would only suit DIv 1 or 2
4. We hate anyone who is killing our once club, you should too.
5. Who do you sing with?
6. Hope weather is good, can watch something else.

Of course it's our team whilst its a temporary move, or is it only our team every other week when they play away or happen to be on sky?

Nick, if you are as impartial as you say can you start having a go at people who mention when this supposed ground will be built?

Neither can talking about when this ground is built either. All we have had is words as usual. But some seem to think it will happen. Very similar to me.

Lots of interesting comments. Point 2 was wrong so I have revised it as below so it is hopefully more accurate. I was hoping for some responses to point 6 (If people want CCFC to return to Coventry but go inside sixfields, what is the suggested strategy instead of not one penny more and boycotting Northampton?) but I haven’t spotted any so far so I would be very grateful for some!

2. A short-term move could be justified if a new ground in Coventry was guaranteed but no new site has been purchased, no planning application has been submitted, never mind negotiating the way through the complexities of the planning process and then building a stadium. The chairman of the Football League has admitted he has no idea if we will ever return to Coventry. There is not one scrap of evidence that the move to Northampton is temporary, that a new ground will be built nor that we will ever return to our home City.
