New signing going into the academy
Low but sounds like there were a few Prem clubs after him when he was 16. He's got a year to make an impression.Odds on him ever making the first team?
Based on a quick google search, a few million invested in it each year, and being in the Premier league or recentlyJust out of interest.
What investment would be needed to get to a Cat 1 Academy?

Costello was a means to an end. Signing him allowed other forwards to go out on loan, just unfortunate that the ones we loaned out and had high hopes for never kicked on.Hope we bolster our youth ranks a bit more. Seem to always put together a strong enough squad for the division we're in, but lack potential for the first team. Less Costello type signings more promising 17-19 year olds.

Agree based on the few games I’ve seen him, shame he’s done his knee in the Nuneaton (not so) friendly last year. Just hope he comes back from it well enough to push on.Tristan Batanwi will be a class player
Thanks for the information, it’s useful to have a bit of background on a player. From a Brighton fan -
Ryan joined the Derby County youth system at the age of 11. He developed through the age ranks and was offered his scholarship by the Rams during 2019-20 when he was still an U-15 schoolboy. That same season he played for the England U-16 side (starting in the 4-1 win over the USA at St George’s Park on 21 Feb 2020) and started to attract the attention of numerous Premier League clubs. He made his debut for the Derby County U-18 side when he came on as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Liverpool in the U-18 Premier League North on 4 May 2021 during his U-16 schoolboy season.
Ryan's natural position is as a left-sided centre-back but he is versatile and can also play as a central defensive midfielder or as a left-back. He commenced his scholarship with the Rams in the summer of 2021. He made four starts for the U-18s in 2021-22, his last coming in the 1-1 home draw with Reading in the group stages of the U-18 Premier League Cup on 18 September 2021. On 20 November 2021 he was named as a substitute for the Brighton and Hove Albion U-18 side for their home fixture with Chelsea. Six days later his representatives announced that he had completed a transfer to the Seagulls. He made his debut for the U-18s as a substitute in the 3-2 win at Sunderland in the U-18 Premier League Cup on 30 January 2022 and made a total of seven appearances for the Albion U-18s in 2021-22. He signed a professional contract in the summer of 2022.
In 2022-23 he scored one goal for the U-18s in 20 appearances (18 of them starts). On 26 August 2023 he started for the Stoke City U-21s in their Premier League 2 fixture against Manchester United. He gave the ball away for United’s first goal and the team were losing 6-1 at half-time. He didn’t reappear for the second half as the side lost 10-1 and he didn’t make another appearance (presumably he had joined Stoke on loan as he was unlikely to get much playing time for the Albion U-21s).
He returned to Albion and made a couple of starts in the Sussex Senior Cup but was sent off for two cautions in the second of those appearances in November. His only other (and last) appearance for the Albion U-21s was 30 minutes as a sub in their Premier League International Cup victory over Dinamo Zagreb on 17 January 2024. When the Premier League squad list was published at the end of the January 2024 transfer window he wasn’t included in Albion’s list of U-21 players.

He's been given a contract until June 2025. It's just this season he'll say with the academy, before moving towards the first team squad next season. The youngster will spend the remainder of 23/24 with @SkyBluesAcademy. So 3 months to make an impression. Not a year.
In terms of prospects - I’d say Obikwu, Moore, Andrews & DauschAndrews appears highly rated? Also Issac Moore was at one point admittedly he has had a serious injury at a bad time for his development
Is Dausch that good? From what I can see, Finney has been starting ahead of him for the U21s.In terms of prospects - I’d say Obikwu, Moore, Andrews & Dausch
Batanwi as well. Dausch not so sure.In terms of prospects - I’d say Obikwu, Moore, Andrews & Dausch
