I spotted this story from a comment on BlueSky.

24 year old New York City defender becomes a free agent on Jan 1st and has been linked with us and Boro in the championship. Plus a number of other clubs.

I doubt it's a plausible link, but here's the article, Source: Justin Haak, NYCFC talks break down amid teeming free-agent market – amNewYork.

I vaguely remember his name coming up before. Not sure if it was a suggestion or link

Be great to have a centre back with a new york accent

I could see Lati moving on in January so it’s not impossible to believe we might want another centre half

Lati may well want to move on creating that need. I'm just not convinced that a 24 year old from the MLS would be ready to slot in straight away.

The need to replace someone who hasn’t played a single minute this season?

Bet the lad will jump at the chance to leave NY to come to cov to be 4th choice.

He's not leaving to become 4th choice is he, I'd imagine Frank isn't ear marking him as 4th choice. He replaces lati in the squad, and if he's better than either Thomas or Kitching he starts.

I do wish people would understand better the idea of competition or players having the self confidence to challenge for a starting position.

they literally do not understand the concept of an interchangeable squad.

they really think Lampard will sign a player to be 4th choice and tell them that

I think Lampard would love to be in a position where the best 11 isn't actually that clear and everyone has to scrap for it. For the most part its pretty clear at the moment even though our bench is undeniably better than it has been in years gone by.

If we sign him he needs to grow the hair back

Doug can get those Haak hairbands at £5 a pop in the club store and he'd basically pay for himself

You want good competition in every position. Like any new signing he would have to fight for his place

Having a defender named Haak could be good, or at least amusing.

Perhaps we could find someone called Clogg to play alongside him.

16 MLS sides,
6 Bundesliga sides
Top 2 in the championship...

This sounds like an agent piece to get him a better deal offered to me

And not a very good agent piece either.

It's complete nonsense.

Exactly, no way is he leaving to become 4th choice. And Frank isn’t ear marking anyone to be 4th choice.

He is not replacing Thomas or Kitching half way through an incredibly successful season. Nor is he replacing Wolf who signed for a lot of money and can’t get near the 11.

Woolf started the game before last, it’s not like he can’t get near. The current back four are settled though so difficult to tinker too much

When we play the blunts at their place he'll be saying to T Campbell

"I'm gonna whack ya , ya little prick yeh"

Any time I hear a New York accent I just think of Joe Pesci

Exactly the sort of prospect we should be looking at.

Some on here can't see past Lati though.
