What sort of shit is that to stop knife crime? They should be getting longer than that just for having a machete on them.

What sort of shit is that to stop knife crime? They should be getting longer than that just for having a machete on them.

It's an absolute disgrace. There should be a minimum sentence simply for carrying a knife such as 5 years. If you stab someone why should you get any less than 10 ?
This sentence will actually encourage people who are hell bent on revenge or to settle a score if they know they'll only be getting 12 months.

Don’t think there’s much evidence sentences deter people from carrying knives, but 2 years for clear intent to do lethal harm is ridiculous.
