Sir Tommy Hutchison and the old main stand in the background . What was it about Highfield Road that was so ''Special'' the burger vans outside and the smell of onions . the narrow turnstiles into the West End , the away end , before the roof was put on , the smell of stale beer and cigarettes , the criss cross metal gates into the Sky Blue Stand , and , the wooden seating , the blue three wheelers pitch side , the small white wall , the crush in the West End when we scored , and , night games . floodlights , lush green pitch , the stunning kit in which Sir Tommy is wearing ...... God it was a ''Special'' place .

My 1st memories are the brick toilet in the kop, I had to sit on the wall for a midweek game against dirty dirty Leeds because the ground was rammed, it was a 0-0 midweek draw and the blue 3 wheelers against the white wall on pitchside.. Neil Martin having to change his shorts on the pitch because they were ripped (traumatised me for years that did)... Willie and Ernies flipper, a sweet shop the lower part of Swan Lane selling little rock sweets...ahh happy days

Had to watch the entire match perched on the toilet on the Kop.
I'm glad that happened to someone else as well.

Stood outside the pub after Saturdays game and saw a chap walk by with his young son both wearing our colours. The little lad looked downcast and his dad looked like he was consoling him. It made me think about when me and my dad would be leaving Highfield Road back in the Jimmy Hill era,but we'd be happy as we were winning and on the up. Wish that feeling could return especially for our younger fans.

Yep the longer the time spent away from HR the better it gets.

We never lost there, and crowds were always over 30k

I take your point, highfield road was not heaven nor was it a place of continuous success but it was home to generations of city fans and many felt we should still be there. The decade plus since we vacated high field road has been an unmitigated disaster, you can t blame those that have memories of infinitely better times and I am sure if the on the pitch results were better at the ricoh we would not be so quick to seek nostalgia.

I really miss HIghfield Rd and always will, but there's nothing wrong with the Ricoh, it's
Just that nothing good happens there. If Leicester fans had endured the same sort of
Shitfest as us since their relocation, I would imagine they would still be hankering after
Filbert St. I'm sure they Would still have fond memories, but are loving where they
are Now because of what's going on where they are now.
On the few occasions things have got exiting (Blackburn, Leeds, Chelsea Gills etc ) at
the Ricoh, the atmosphere has been enthralling, unfortunately because the club is in

That's the key. If we'd moved and 'done a Leicester', and of course didn't have Wasps logos plastered everywhere, we'd love the place. Its the memories of the good times people miss, just they associate them with HR.
