We are currently sitting in 8th with 53 points, we have played one game more than 6th place and 2 games more than 5th place who are 5 points ahead of us. As much as I would love us to get to playoffs it is a big ask and even if we did get to play offs you've still got to win 3 games in a row to get promoted and 6 of our remaining 11 games are at home which we are woeful at home. We have also still got to play Swindon, Doncaster, Brentford, Walsall who are all very close around us and then theres the potential few banana skins...

Now I know this would not happen but what would everyones thoughts be on going into administration and dropping 10 points? We would be 8 points above the relegation zone, the transfer window is closed so nobody could snatch our players on the cheap and we could try and restart next season and give it a proper go

Your thoughts?

All the money is owed to SISU so what would be the point ? They're not going to write off their own debts !

I'm not sure what you are saying. What do we think about something that you say won't happen?

We would only be given the points deduction now IF we finished in the top 6, if we went into admin now and finished outside of the top 6 then the points deduction would be applied at the start of next season.

Are you actually serious? Half the people on this website say things that arent going to happen like 'this player is on a free transfer would you have him' or 'what do you think to us getting certain managers that definitely wont happen either!

answering it just as a theoretical question which I doubt would happen my answer would be no. we definately can still make the play offs this season and dont want to use how we have previously played at home as an excuse why we cant or shouldnt win home games that are coming up. If we got to the playoffs you are talking a home game with a full stadium and 10 times the crewe JPT atmostphere. good chance we could find that form in the home leg and we can definately beat anybody away from home.

I get the point of your question though - more a hyperthetical situation to me but you are right there have been many worse ones asked on here!

Fair enough.

We should try to avoid a points deduction as I beleive we still have a chance of the playoffs.

I dont get all this we will do it next year crap.

If we dont do go up this year forget it! If you get relegated you need to bounce back up at first attempt.

Look at our past history, we get relegated and after 10 years drop down again. Not going up this year would be an utter disaster!

Yeah it was more of a hyperthetical situation just to see whether people would want to do it or continue the way we are and challenge for the playoffs and honestly think we can do it.

I just feel we cant continue to carry on the way we are, living off scraps and scraping the barrell at every possible turn and being ran with no money and being placed under a transfer embargo 3 years running, its embarrising! I would just like us to see if there is a way we could try and wipe some of the debt and start again and potentially look more appealing to potential investors because currently we are not a appealing investment which is why there isnt anyone that wants to take over SISU's reigns. We are the 9th largest city in the country close to big motorways and an international airport playing in a great stadium.... theres just got to be a way out of this mess and I'm worried if we dont go up what will be next?

Don't think going into admin will change anything. Our biggest debt is with sisu and as its already been pointed out why would they rite of £45 million? Secondly the main cause of our situation as I see it is the stadium rent / revenue which won't change if we go into admin. IMO I think we should get the stadium side sorted out first before admin is even considered. But I have a hunch that once rent has been agreed then everything else will start to fall in to place.

Different time different circumstances
If a points deduction(towards the end of a season) is ineffective to the overall campaign then it's put off so a club starts with a minus points start to the next season to stop team purposely manipulating the system.

Remember Southampton 3 or 4 years ago?? They were told "if you stay up we'll deduct you, if you go down then instead we'll deduct you at the start of next season"

Look at the history of this league. Many teams with recent Premier League experience like ourselves haven't gone up straight away. Norwich and Leicester are the only two I can recall that have. Sheff Wed, Leeds, Forest and Southampton all took a couple of seasons or more, Sheff Utd look like they will be this year.

It's not ideal, but if we don't go up then its not the end of the world footballing wise. Financially is a different matter.
