When Lord Oggy made his debut appearance at HR, who did he play against?

Thought his debut was away to Villa.

Can't remember who the first home game was against.

Wow. Right for once

Late 70's/early 80's. One of the first games I ever went to IIRC. Don't remember us losing but no idea how we did. Getting on a bit now

It's not a trick question, but it's certainly a case of 'within the wording' of the question. I came up with this one years ago and to this day I still get the odd disapproving look from people who were there when this 'bombshell' was dropped. Oggy came in as a late replacement for Clemence in what was only the second or third game of the 1980/81 season (0-0) Tuesday night I think. Liverpool's back four annihilated us that night. We couldn't get the ball off them. Neither could any other Liverpool player for that matter. It prompted Gordon Milne to suggest afterwards that they wouldn't win the title with that brand of negative football. He was absolutely right, they didn't. They just had to console themselves with the European and league cups instead.
Grendel, for being first with the correct answer, you have first choice of my many unwanted crimbo pressies.

For City, seem to remember a Tuesday evening second game of the season v Norwich, around '84. Was that Oggy or someone else? Remember thinking "this new keeper looks comfortable".
