Where did you play footy as a kid? Which Coventry parks and streets did you use?
Who were your footy hero's at the time? Who did you pretend to be as you smashed one in the imaginary top corner during '3 and in'?

Played at Finnbars behind gateway in the 90s.

Sometimes at foleshill park.

Used to emulate likes of huckerby all the way to original ronaldo!

Over the farmers field in Woodway Lane in Walsgrave not just jumpers for goalposts but dry cow pats sometimes.
We also staged wrestling bouts there too as it was popular on the telly back then,and we really got stuck in.
Great days as I'd be Ronnie Rees or George Hudson or if I was on form George Best !

Warwick uni pitches, where they have now built accommodation. The pitches were rarely used, and often the nets were left up. I was probably Kenny Dalglish.

Bottom end of Allesley Park on Allesley Old Rd. where the pitch and put course is now. Games would begin early in the morning and go on for most of the day until it got dark (when we´d play commandos), with lads getting called by their mothers to go and have lunch and then reincorporate themselves immediately afterwards. Quite a testing undulating surface but some fantatic memories. Pitch size adjusted according as to how many per side

They sometimes left the hockey nets up on Sunday mornings and it was great to see the ball hitting the net on Wiseman's pitch.

Middle of the road by the bus garage in Hillfields. Use a gated electricity generator as our goal. Took turns climbing in to retrieve the ball. Fearless or just stupid??

Most places around Radford and Coundon.
We played at Barrs Hill School, Crampus Fields, The wreck by Lydgate Hill, Cash's Park, everywhere.
The best times though were right outside my house in Bridgeman Rd, playing one-twos off my parents and next door neighbours cars.
We had a chalk goal on the garages (that are not there now) and used to curl balls into the top corner of it and run down the road screaming "REEGIS!!"
This is the exact same place Callum Wilson played when he was a nipper.

Coundon Hall Park provided Zacky, the mad park keeper, wasn't trying to throw us off his precious pitches. Willie Humphries when crossing and Terry Bly when banging them in.

Liggins field Beduff every night.
Used to break the fencing off the new Bedworth bypass to make goals.
We were school kids but the future brother in law worked down the pit so he played bare footed as his totectors kept injuring us.

Later as an apprentice at Morris Engines the first year was football every morning for 2 hours as our training officers were Ron Floyd and Harry Barratt.

From age 4-11 it was the fields on Craven Avenue, Binley Woods (my house was opposite the gate). Then I moved to Stretton On Dunsmore so I had a big money transfer to Plott Lane Park with the odd away game at Fosse Way Park on the other side of the village.

Rain, snow and sometimes sun. Played from 9 in the morning till dark in the holidays and from 4-around 8 at night during term time. I would alternate being Oggy and David Seaman. Was always my ambition to one day save a penalty against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Me and a dozen of my mates used to get through a hole in the massive chain link fence(Courtesy of bolt croppers, not mine) into "Wembley" as we called it, The Matrix FC ground between Eastcotes and the A45. in Tile Hill. The nets were never taken down IIRC. I started to watch the Matrix FC under 21's on a Sunday morning, and at 12 years old had the odd game for them if ever they were short of players(Played under a injured or on holiday players name) I know naughty, naughty.

Played at Caludon Castle school (when it was just boys), Caludon park, various other parks in Coventry (mostly Bell Green, Walsgrave, Shilton Road) and the odd bits of green that were all over Coventry in the 1960's.
Was never a popular kid so never got picked for any team (being popular was the most important requirement, not the ability to play) but the teams I played for I scored a lot of goals.

Tutbury field in Cannon Park mostly, had two trees that made a perfect goal. Went down there and all the grass has grown back, obviously we were the last generation to actually play outside

Same here, used to play on portsea close or just behind portsea close, down the 'dip' in cheyelsmore.

I used to go to Whitley common often, but not to play football. It was for cycle speedway on the track at Park Palings.
