I'll ask her

(Assuming her role as chair of stadium group makes her an interested party as well as her City fandom & professional background. Don't read too much into the seating arrangements – we're all jammed in at the back here so all together. Although is telling that the Higgs posse are behind the press bench on the far side of the room from Joy & Tim.)

Lends itself to SISU's contention that ACL wasn't viable doesn't it?

I'm not sure it proves that ACL isn't viable - but I think it's shown that this has all been about distressing ACL, wouldn't you agree?

Still pressing the point on Sisu proving that competition was distorted. ACL QC says Sisu relying on one quote from a textbook that threshold for proof is relatively low. He has just read out the full quote from the book and claims

"10.39: Council QC says Sisu trying to get the loan deal overturned to get ACL back to the distressed financial position it was in so they can seek to gain control of the Ricoh Arena."

Wow, now that is a shock. 99% of fans on here and out there in the great big CCFC world have been banging on about this since time began.
Hopefully the judge will take that on board in his judgement.

I know I was just joking as people seem to think if people are crammed together it instantly means something. I did make sure I put smileys on the end

I had a quick chat with Clive after yesterday's proceedings (commiserated with him on not commentating at Edgbaston) and he was getting ready to do a radio piece. (It's all iPad & headphones these days.) So yes. I'll see if I can get info on when he's on but it might be recorded in for the regular news.

Making ACL collapse has always been a Sisu plan and gaining control of the loan to do this was integral to doing this.. Sisu are complaining they got beat to the punch,, they would of done the same as the ccc if they had the chance and not blinked once to stress acl..

Lets hope the judge tells all parties to get in a room sort it out and stop wasting money in court....

Sounds as if SISU have finally found something they are good at.

They couldn't attract crowds to the Ricoh, they couldn't attract crowds to Sixfields but they have finally managed to pack out a courthouse.

ACL QC going through case law relevant to state aid rules and proving an effect on competition.
Now time for a short break.

You're angling for an interview again aren't you? I think they should give you your own show, at least then I could turn you off.

(I'm kidding here btw, but I can't resist the chance to recycle an old joke).

More vulnerable to the actions of it's clients than un viable I would say. Is that any different to any other business?

It is a balancing act... I suspect the council thought the threat to move to Northampton wasn't real..

I suppose it depends on what you'd call its main business. Is it a property holding company or a stadium & exhibition centre operator?

Weber Shandwick person wedged into the corner at the back with us. Apparently no room for Clive with the press.

It's the language difference.
One says 'rent was paid' - that requires two parties, a payer and a receiver.
The other says 'took' - that suggest self service. Only one part involved.

Simon Gilbert@TheSimonGilbert · 25s ACL QC still going over case law. Effect on European trade the focus. Hard going for the neutral observer. Important part of process though.

No it doesn't say "rent was paid" exactly.. it says "Council QC says 500k escrow account used to pay ACL after club stopped paying rent was funded by the FA."

Anyway, I don't think anyone is suggesting drawing down the escrow was anything but 'normal business practice' and something ACL were entitled to do in the circumstances, you're not are you?

ACL QC (Conor Quigley. Listed QC, Paul Harris (nothing to do with the Higgs trustee of the same name in attendance) is ill) going into great detail WRT previous state aid cases. Judge looks like he's having to hold his head up to stop himself from dozing off.

Hate how Sisu tried to demonise ACL for using a PR firm... totally immaterial and a good example of them throwing mud at others to distract from their own (far more relevant) failings

Depends on what the brief of said PR company is, if it's to throw mud at others to distract from ACLs own failings...

Personally I don't see why they needed them, they already have their own PR and communications team.

I thought the whole point of escrow was that it didn't have to be initiated by the payer.

In fairness the Judge probably knows and has researched this but has to let him present his case for the benefit of the court and you lot in the gallery.
