He’s got to have a rethink on this. He’s jeopardising our future support in the next few years.

It's clearly an inducement to sell more STs, but with more and more "school night" matches, buying an ST for your kid/s makes less and less sense, as they will have to miss those matches. If they have to attach a nominal fee to JSB membership (e.g. to cover the cost of the gifts, etc), so be it, but this is plain wrong! I have tweeted Will King imploring him to get his idiot brother to change this decision!

Can't really work out the thinking behind this one.

Only thing I can come up with is that there's lots of members who don't go to games and therefore they make a loss as potentially the stuff they send you costs more than the membership but surely then you'd just change the price.

Either way, losing the support of local kids costs hugely more in the long run. We are paying footballers tens of thousands a week, but can't afford to send bits and bobs out to encourage young fans.

My son has already emailed the club. He's not happy! His son, my grandson, has only just turned 2 but has been a JSB since birth! He loved the training day, but will no way be ready for a ST for a few years yet! There also seems to be no provision for under 3s either, so not sure where he stands!! Terrible decision!

Even on the clubs Facebook it seems like there's an unanimous agreement that this was a bad decision. Wonder if they'll eventually have to reverse this

Doug King actually hates children

Children don't make as much money for the club as adults. That's the bottom line for him, but he's missing the fact that in 20 years time those kids he feels don't earn him enough are the adults who will spend a fortune

Another idiotic kid hating move like doesn't look good

What I don’t understand is why the club do not put the feelers out and consult with fans before blindly implementing such changes. Surely it’s in their interest to do so to avoid the bad PR and potential embarrassment of having to walk it back/alter it later?!

Can't see the gifts being that much. They would just need to maybe change the vouchers too.

It's things like the Christmas cards that weren't pricey but were a nice touch.

I hope they explain the

Feels like they’re holding off as long as possible so they can sneak them out just before the season starts and avoid some of the backlash. Similar thing happening with them not releasing the price of the new kit even though it’s out on Friday imo.

They should have kept it as it was but just got rid of the mad cheap ticket offers you got.

The issue is obviously that they've scared the bullshitters out the family zone but now they're just hoovering up JSBs for the £25 family ticket.

Does seem slightly bizarre. Surely JSB is a way of catching kids even if parents can't manage to go regularly?

Classic short termism (see most politicians). Don't think King expects to be here in 5 years time.

Gladly miss out on the Wembley flags and any other gimmicky things (although they looked really good!) and spend any money on encouraging the future generation of Sky Blue youngsters.

Does Doug have children? He behaves like they are a an irritant to his business model at times. As an example when we were selling games out vs Leeds etc. and he removed his brother's advertising covers to give more seats to fans they were adult only prices, corporate hospitslity the same, if you want to bring your teenage kids to a hospitality day for your birthday it's adult prices only. I really want the club to be commercially successful, but Doug seems to know the price of everything and the value of nothing when it comes to our younger fans.

The what? Are you saying an adult could sign non-existent kid up for the JSBs and then get in for less than the price of an adult ticket?

That would actually be a logical explanation. If they've seen a sudden rise in new members in line with people not renewing in the family zone. Does seem a sledgehammer to crack a walnut if that's the issue. Just make it more than an adult ticket

I get they might want to get rid of the vouchers you got for each JSB (e.g. £35 for 2 x adults, 2 x kids, any game) but just do that. Sell memberships, offer an incentive to buy them (discounted tickets). Weird.

Or, £25 for Christmas card, gifts and being a jsb (axe vouchers if need be).
Many who have been members since babies will be happy for this, easy cash for club.....

Annoying thing for me is I couldn’t even use those vouchers as they stopped letting you exchange them on the day of the game and you couldn’t do it online. We are only ever in Cov on match days. Many other out of town JSBs were probably in the same boat.

my kids had membership to give them a connection to the club and a sense of belonging, not to try and get into a few games with the rest of the family on the cheap.
