if you could only pick 1 match to win, sheff utd or morecombe who would it be?

area quater final victory or 2nd round fa cup?

miss out on third round(potential mega tie) for first time in years or lose our best chance of silverware?

me personally id take the sheff utd win, we would become outright favourites and it would be very exciting for me personally.

we can do both of course but for purpose of this thread which do you want more?

It's a toughy because you've got to ask how much of a dent in confidence would it be losing to Morecambe? I'd obviously love the opportunity to go to Wembley, which is very unlikely with the FA Cup, but a close defeat to Sheff Utd wouldn't do as much damage as defeat to Morecambe.

EDIT: On a more positive note, I actually think we'll progress in both in the form we're in. Sheff Utd aren't that good, seen them a couple of times this season. They're solid and work hard, but they can be broken down and they don't score that many.

you reckon sheff utd may play a slightly weaker team in order to concentrate on automatic promotion push? i hope so.

but agree in our form we can beat anyone left in the competition

This is true! Which shows they can be broken down as I say! Think it's more away games they tend to struggle to score in?

JPT great chance of Wembley, no chance in the FA Cup

What he just said.

Not even up for debate. The actual chance of silverware would be a massive boost to the club, the fans and the whole city, tinpot cup or not.

We obviously have no chance of winning the FA Cup.

Can I choose draw both and then win both on penalties?

Morecombe game for me. Then draw Man Utd away in the 3rd round and use the gate receipts to pay for McGoldrick!

I remember the TV pundits in 1987 saying that we "Are very unlikely to win the FA Cup!"

based purely on the fact that I've realised I'm in New York when it's the JPT final I'll say FA Cup.

Personally I would rather we put all our efforts into the league and get promoted asap.
At the moment in the bigger scheme of things the cups mean nothing to me.
If I had to choose though between the cups then the FA Cup is the one I would want to be involved in as long as possible just so we may draw another team like Arsenal away and have the opportunity of a great away day. But like I said put all our efforts into the league where promotion would be worth more than a cup run.

Sheffield Utd win for me. Possibility of winning a cup medal might swing any deal for McGoldrick in January.

Times have changed since 1987. Now become a cup of the powerhouses.

Surely a trip to wembley to see a final we can win is more appealing than another trip to arsenal and another battering? What's wrong with you man?!

Also, JPT is half realistic, we'd be lucky to get to FA Cup 4th round (depends who we get tbf).

Do think it comes down to the Sheff Utd. match. If we were to beat them then there's only Preston or Doncaster who might be considered bigger favourites than us.

Teams left are as follows:

Crewe v Doncaster Rovers

Bury V Preston

Port Vale V Bradford

Coventry V Sheffield Utd

Northampton V Leyton Orient

Southend V Brentford

Yeovil V Wycombe

Plymouth V Oxford Utd

I think that would depend upon whether we're home or away. Yeovil and Bradford could be difficult games away and I certainly would NOT fancy going to Southend to come up against a certain Mr Eastwood with a point to prove.

I love how people label trophys as mickey mouse. If we win anything its an achievement, not a mickey mouse achievement, an actual achievement. It's our level now and we have no chance of winning either league or fa cup for a few years, if ever again!

You say that but I think you'll find it is a certain Mr. D Duck who is presenting the trophy to the winning captain this season.

Actually, I just hate the term mickey mouse cup/trophy. Sky/media term that's devalued most competitions apart from the prem.

Has to be the jpt. Beat Sheff Utd & we have a great chance of getting to Wembley. I imagine if we win this game we would be in our first semi final in over 20 years.

If we were to win the trophy it would be a clear signal that our decline has finally bottomed out.

All the FA can offer is eventual defeat. Most likely at the hands of some second rate championship team.
