Of course.

Why else would you want a CVA signed? Because it gives you a worse deal than if it wasn't?

I don't know why they're so keen as I thought that they owed ACL half a million if it is signed, and not if it isn't. Is that correct or have I missed something?

Does it always have to be something else? Joy noted the need for the CVA to be signed due to the playing squad being threadbare, SISU will not want us relegated again and I think they're trying to prevent it.

I suspect both sides are on PR manoeuvres today. I'd suspect this is laying the ground work for the outcome of today's meeting and both sides are pumping out the message that they were open to negotiation and it did not have to be like this. Of course, it would be great if they did actually do a deal that allowed Coventry City to keep playing in Coventry, but I fear Sisu's ultimate objective (which, in my opinion, appears to be to grab the Ricoh cheap) and the council's red line (as set out by Ann Lucas) of protecting a community asset are mutually incompatible.

Could it not be for the reasons that were listed on the statement or do you have a hunch that Joy is hiding more?

I think everyone is hiding something and I welcome any chance to find out what has happened. If we have to go back to Richardson and his ilk then let's go back there. What OSB58 said about scope and powers of investigation might be putting the frighteners on SISU for all I know.

Well they've publicly stated they'd love an investigation into everything.

Get the movers and shakers onside, get Robinson to front up a fighting fund where people can donate towards the costs of the investigations.

Let's do it.

Agreed.

I don't know what other motive SISU could have for ACL to sign the CVA other then the reasons Joy has already stated though.

Yes - because relegation means less revenue. Promotion means increased revenue (wherever we are playing) & prize money (which is also increased revenue)

It's possible although why the sudden interest in the team now? Also why move us to Sixfields and hobble us under FFP if concerned about the team. It's their fault we have the embargo again by not filing accounts.

Explain to me then Valiant why Joy would want to get the CVA signed if that's not the reason. I mention the playing squad because if they look to sell us on eventually to try and break even, they aren't going to want us in League 2 with no ground, Groundsharing with the Cobblers. SISU are going to want us to own the Ricoh and be playing at a high enough level that will attract interest.

As well as having an obligation to the fans and the First Team Manager to invest in the club to give Steven Pressley the best tools for him to do his job.

Ann should ask Joy to bring some ID with her. After all, Joy will know what Ann looks like from press photo's, but does Ann know what Joy looks like? Wouldn't put it past SISU, given their history, to send in a fake - or am I being paranoid :thinking about:

Probably

Love the way Sisu criticise others for 'band standing through the media ' - and then do exactly that.

SISU probably didn't think it would drag this long, remember Fisher at the forums and Pressley in interviews in the CT since the embargo, it's almost like that Pressley never expected or was informed that this situation would have never dragged as long as it has, SISU desperately need ACL to sign the CVA so CCFC can bring in new players to help maintain the squad after all another relegation and it will be pretty much game over for SISU.

And the biggest bandstander? - should this not be grandstander? - is Tim Fisher, imho. Anyone else think he will be the sacrificial lamb? :thinking about:

Lack of investment.

Take a look at the season before and the statement from Steve Waggott, he always claimed the importance of keeping hold of Marlon King, but it was never just Marlon King it was, Ben Turner, Aron Gunnarson, Kieron Westwood, they should have offered these players 1 year deals and seen if they could build to it. However what they did in comparison..

Again very possible although I still think that they're just using the club as a bargaining chip or whole casino in this case, the timing stinks.

'Ahhhh Ann, why didn't you say so? If only the Council had issued this open letter months ago, us, ACL and the Council would be hunky dorey by now in one big happy family at the Ricoh!' Timing is unbelievable...Back to you then Ann.

Maybe Joy has finally has realised what an incompetent, obstructive, arrogant, pompous buffoon Tim Fisher really is and how incapable he actually is of bringing any such resolution to this tedious matter...'Must I do everything myself Tim???'

Each time I read a different perspective, I am swayed ever so slightly to the point that the Council are more culpable than I initially give them credit for...

Just get us back to the Ricoh girls and hurry up about it...

You have to remeber Valiant the Football Club is there investment, if the Football Club is failing and free falling like a shot bird then SISU know they will recover their expenditure, however a promotion and the Ricoh on the cheap or at a reduced rate and a stable financial footing for the future changes that quickly.

Agreed, but if you want to talk about timing how long has Ann Lucas has been in her position, aware of the situation at CCFC and the Ricoh Arena which is Communal Asset and within 24 hours of a meeting taking place that could determine the path to the Football Club's future, Ann then comes out and asks for peace talks?! I haven't followed Ann Lucas much but I think roughly Ann has been in that position three months, the question being, Why now??

Why she hasnt spoken is is in her statement I think.............. my understanding is because of the judicial review the whole council has had a lock down on releasing statements about the ricoh and dispute its been imposed by the council legal department. Anne Lucas got to "1 minute before midnight" and decided she had to do something irrespective of the lock down. Plus I would guess it is a strategy to extend the adjournment (which looks possibly to have failed)

I can only guess that things must have broken down badly at the talks or she didn't believe Sixfields would actually happen which was a bit naive or the court case.

I notice the Club have put a statement on their website. I also noticed they had a little dig about Lucas not meeting them and sending people who "did not have the authority to make a deal."

In other news, a Mr. Pot of Hinckley was arrested today for calling a Mr. Kettle of Hillfields "black".

Was she even scheduled to be at the meeting? If she was and hasn't shown up that's one thing. If Joy has just decided to turn up at and expect people to be there with no advance warning that's a totally different situation.

Coventry City Football Club issue statement regarding calls for talks

Joy Seppala would of course be delighted to meet with Ann Lucas. Indeed, Joy and the directors of the football club were disappointed that neither Ann nor her deputy attended the important meeting with her last week - and instead left it to directors of ACL who admitted that they did not have the authority to take some of the key decisions needed to bring about a resolution.

However, we are encouraged that Ann herself is now willing to get personally involved. Rather than grandstanding through the media, we have held private meetings with the current council leadership at which we have made it clear that they must take control of the situation.

We see no reason why the CVA cannot be accepted as soon as possible so that the club can exit administration and focus on winning its upcoming matches. Accepting the CVA will also enable ACL to recover a substantial sum of money. If ACL wish to reject the CVA, they will be forcing the club into liquidation, under which they will recover no money and expose the club to the risk of a severe points deduction.

Whether ACL intends to accept the CVA or force the club into liquidation, they should make that decision now. Continued delaying and stalling just leaves the club in limbo, unable to build up the squad, which is unfair on Steven Pressley, the players and the fans.

Finally, some people have made bizarre claims that liquidation is necessary in order to force an investigation. An investigation by the administrator is of course already in progress and does not require liquidation in order to continue. In addition to that investigation, we would welcome a thorough investigation into the affairs of the club, the council and ACL since 2003 which lie at the root of the current dispute. Accepting the CVA need not prevent such an investigation taking place.

How can they submit accounts while the company is in administration and that there are financial interdependencies between ltd, holdings and sky blue sports and leisure?
