Bar the Plymouth game, Eccles has been pretty poor since Lampards been in charge. He played well in places early on in the season though.

I think when you're almost always a certain starter and under a new coach you're not confidence will be affected.
I'm sure Eccles will get plenty of minutes going forward.

Eccles has been found out. At best a very average Championship midfielder.

One of these days Eccles will get some slack off the fucking idiots who want to see a homegrown player fail.
He started virtually every game up to late November /December and was arguably our best player up to that point
But yeah let's crucify him for taking a shot / making a poor decision

Some on here are just fucking toxic

One of our own yeah until the agenda changes

Ah ok , happy to be proven wrong but some of the pile on today is just plain weird . Yes he fucked up , like others have through the course of the season so far but the vitriol towards Eccles always seems to be ramped up when it's him

Eccles will be fine, he was our best player bar Wright in the first half season. Same as some suggestions that we're better without Sheaf. Results have picked up because some players have really stepped up rather than because these weren't up to it. What it shows is that our squad depth is actually okay. We'd all like an addition and possible experience but be happy for those doing well rather than negative about others who aren't.

*Checks notes, yep you can come back at me with Collins, but apart from him

If an offer comes in for him this summer, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lampard sanctions the sale.

After the success of the 5-3-2 with the holding DM. I can absolutely see the 4-3-3 having a holding midfielder instead of Rudoni playing higher up.

As such think Eccles might struggle to get back in the team. As he doesn’t offer the aggression and work rate of Allen or the creativity of the other two. A good option off the bench but if we sign a DM I think he’ll struggle

Sheaf is slmost certainly going, very good chance Allen is going, if Eccles goes that's some midfield turnover in one window.

I do t see how you can say that. That he clearly doesn't rate Eccles.

Eccles just hasn't started for the last 5 games. That's nothing and we all agree that Eccles now seems to have hit a bit of poor run of form.

Much, much more likely to be that, than Lampard CLEARLY not rating him.

Sell Sheaf and get in someone with solid experience who can play an aggressive higher tempo game.
Id keep the others.

At least a year extension surely. I was more on the side of finally letting him move on but you can't argue with his performances recently. He's been great.

I think the club will keep Allen for that very reason. It'd cost more to replace him than keep him. He's a fairly low cost option for the role he plays really.

Unless he's keen to move on there's not much point in putting time and resource into replacing a player that doesn't need replacing. The recruitment team will have enough to do in the summer as it is.

Disagree on Allen. We’ve got a year option to extend so can see the club doing that. Even if we upgrade as we’ve seen he’s very capable playing the DM role for us

ITKs seemed to think he'd be off, but that was prior to his recent inclusion so that may change.

He's was nearly off before but ended up staying.

We struggled when Allen went off yesterday.

As an aside our aggressive 5 at the back with Kitching often in midfield areas and putting in crosses looks the way to go for now.

This is the problem. I do think Sheaf could play this role as it’s what he did brilliantly before this season and hope he can regain his ability before he goes in the summer but I have doubts on Eccles doing it

Eccles is a decent player and when on form can be very good. He will get a chance again at some point

But as I have said before I find the grown men crying over him weird. Just because he's one of our own any criticism is labelled toxic lol

Equally people make out he gets a pass because he's local and make comments like he's L1 best or lower half championship when he's been part of a top half team/squad for the last 3 seasons and will more than likely be this season.

Great player and had a good season up until last few games.

If I was the manager I would however make him watch the moment when he shot yesterday 1000 x in a row. Game of fine margins and that was a poor decision at that moment in the game, from a player I usually expect to make better decisions!

I didn't see the game, but could it not be that Eccles shot because he's not been featuring and if he scored, he would have made Lampard stand up and take notice.

Like he had a point to prove.

That would make sense wouldn't it?

That in itself was a bad decision to put himself over the team. He would never have scored from where he was and Bassette was screaming for it.

Why do you think Allen is going ? When fit he has been magnificent. He was out with the heart scare then having been assaulted. Came back and is great probably the best outfield player in the games he's played

ITks were saying he's off. Doesn't mean it's correct but seemed feasible.
I hope he stays.

He's playing well so I don't mind activating an extension but no need for a new contract. Time to move on and upgrade permanently once his extension year is done.
