I'd say he will bring in at least 6 permanent. Then the loans on top of that.
For the January transfer window... The one half way through the season? Where you have to pay transfer fees?
Yeah exactly that's my point... It's a 2 year job... so why get a load of 30 year olds?

I think it could be six if he doesn't manage to retain Reda and decides Swanson isn't what he is looking for and let's him go. I think he will target experienced players who have proved they can do it in the 27 -31 year bracket. Players who can still give us 2-3 years while the youngsters develop. He wants to introduce a bit of stability and continuity to build a team over the next few years. Our poor transfer policy has seen too many coming and going. You can still do cashless deals in January. Also dependant on circumstances, who is to say our owners wouldn't be prepared to pay a nominal fee, you can get cheap deals at this level when a player only has 6 months left on his contract.

i am looking for a top half finish this year, flirting with th play offs would be a big bonus for me.

If it's a 2 year job, why does all our squads contracts run out next June?

At this level it is all 1 and 2 year contracts. Some have options for the club to take another year. Contracts can be renewed before they run out.

Over 14 senior players lost in 2 seasons doesn't make confidence with contracts any better.

Pretty much how it is though isn't it.

We gave the likes of Malaga, Edge etc 1 year contracts and it is a good job we did. If we had given all of Pressley's players last summer 5 year contracts we couldn't have had a clear out.

I think in League one a lot of contracts are a year, 18 months or 2 years not just with us. There is a high turnover for a lot of teams, again not just us.

Isn't that the norm for league one? Swindon have lost 26 players in the last two summers, and they're always up there in the mix.

But a lot have not been worth keeping. Sometimes through injury, smetimes age and ability, sometimes youth that have not progressed as hoped. Yes we will loose talent. But there is also fall out every year from the Premiership and Championship.

look at the release lists most clubs have a big turnover. However our non existent scouting system and Waggots sourcing has probably meant ours has been higher.

Mowbrey obviously lost one target because he has decided to go back to Germany. He has also missed out on Luke Williams who he saw as a good prospect. Both have come down to a players preferred locality as much as anything. I am sure he has plenty more irons in the fire. He appears to be waiting for fall out from the Premiership and Championship, but those players are still hoping to maintain a higher status...not all of them will and will have to accept contracts at Lge 1.

Exactly what I have been saying? 26-30 not 30-34 like this thread has suggested.
I have said that TM wants exp but he obvs wants a team that will last a few seasons so thanks for agreeing
Why would he save is budget on the off chance there is a player he can get?
I think we both know our owners will not be paying any transfer fee, as they haven't in 4 years now.

Pretty sure we paid fees for Barton and Adams, but agree with your sentiment.
