It won't make any odds, unless he wins us the champions league, finds a cure for cancer, solves the Middle East peace process, developes a cheap and pollution free form of renewable fuel AND finds Madeleine McCann alive and well, he'll still get slaughtered on here.
It looks like he's the new whipping boy for the coming season, and we haven't even kicked off yet! Un-fucking believable.

Remember seeing his debut against Peterborough on sky and thought this boy will be class how have we managed to sign him. Recon there is real potential there hopefully MR gets the best out of him this year and that he can stay injury free should be a major asset in this division

Lee Burge who is 24 is supposed to be allowed time to develop even though he keeps kicking the ball out of play and cant catch. Jodi Jones who is 19 should be binned off because he doesn't make the right decision every time even though he puts defences under pressure.

I despair.

Na, wrong way round. Lets bin Burge and give Jones till he's 24.:emoji_thumbsup:

I think the majority of people are positive and support the lad
We all want him to be the best he can. If he can improve his decision making the sky's the limit

If he is ready to give 100% and ready to learn I will be happy for him to stay. If so he would be one of the best players in Division 4. If not he would be taking up a place in the team that could go to someone better and be on a wage that could bring in another player.

I really want the lad to shine and come good this season and show the promise he did in his loan spell.

So much to iron out in his game tho, let's hope in a positive season he can shine and flourish... needs to have that end product or win a corner, free kick something to come of his possession instead of nothing.

Pros
Bags of skill, a bit of pace and a desire to go at the other team. The kind of player who could make it worthwhile going to a game, and (let’s face it) we haven’t had many of them in recent years. A fine prospect IMO and I’m glad we’ve got him.

Cons
Inexperienced and unreliable at this very early stage of his career, which some people seem to mistake for a lack of ability.

Playing on the wing is hard because when things don’t come off you can look a fool. Hope he gets the support he needs when he has the inevitable poor games.

He won't get the support from a lot of our supporters. They seem to prefer to have an easy target.

Unless he flies up and down the wings, never misplaces a pass, has numerous assists and score loads of goals i am afraid the retarded brainless idiots out on day release from the moan at anything farm may pass the odd negative comment about him

We want wingers who aren't afraid to try something and take on his man. 4 out of 5 times it won't work, but that 5th time could create a goal. Otherwise we end up with a team of donkeys passing sideways!

Pros definitely outweigh the cons from what I've seen from him. He's an exciting prospect that we own, not on loan!

Described by his colleagues as a raw talent. To me it does not matter how good you are on the ball, if there is no end product, you should not be playing. As soon as he has an end product he will want a move

So you're wanting the 'complete' player at the age of 19!! This guy has a lot of talent waiting to be unlocked and harnessed and MR is the man to do it. We all like a player who runs at the opposition even if it doesn't necessarily have an end product, and by that I assume you mean a goal or an assist. Looking forward to seeing him n Sat....

This thread has got far too fucking sensitive.

Someone literally started it asking for pros and cons on a particular player. Surprise, surprise, there are some cons with the pros.

If he does well people will get behind him.

Think there's a bit of a difference, I wouldn't stand up and boo a player and would appreciate when they do something good.

It doesn't mean I wouldn't point out if they have a bad trait or are predictable, it's a long way from the muppets who will boo or shout abuse.

At the moment for me Jones is just not good enough, too predictable and too one footed. I'd still give him time though because he certainly has pace and skill, to me at the moment no more than substitute material coming on for last 20 minutes or so as a pest to save a match no more than that.

As for Ryan Kent our demise that season coincided with when he left and went back to Liverpool. Might have gone off the boil a bit but he was a rookie kid, poorly managed at the time imo, but he's learned from his experience here and could be on the brink of stardom, good players do that.

No nor me, not sure if they just use it as an outlet. Have seen a few people who are going to burst a blood vessel. The best one was the guy who got McSheffrey and Eastwood mixed up and went ape shit.

There's a difference between that and then discussing players strengths and weaknesses.

i understand your point and I do not expect him to be the finished article, however, if you do not pass at the right time, shoot at the right time or take a person on at the right time, should you be in the team full time? Armstrong was the same age when we had him, not the finished article but he did a job for us. cant see the same from Jones (unfortunately). And my point was that as soon as he is the finished article he will go, so we have all the missed/wasted opportunities at CCFC and when has strings a handful of good games together he will go, I do not see that as good for us.

He also did a good job of that in the Wycombe game. It was something Murphy was good at too, carrying the ball a long distance to take the pressure off the defence.

no they wont. They'll be on his case if hes not running round like a headless chicken diving in to two footed tackles and showing some 'pashun'.
Thats what they did with Murphy and god knows how many others.

Murphy was often guilty of not tracking back.

I don't mean making 100 yard runs and putting a 2 footed tackle in to prevent a goal, I mean if the loses the ball he stood there and watched as the other team broke forward without tracking back to at least try and put them off by him being there. This quite often meant it was 2 on one on the full back.

That's not expecting him to be a headless chicken or aimlessly running back, just if he lost the ball not to stand there and watch their counter attack develop with his hands on his head / hips and at least track back.

Agree with you on Jones, but hopefully he develops this season.

As with Kent, I probably disagree. Think he was very overrated here, but definitely was the most skillfull player I've seen in a CCFC shirt. The player management in general that season was terrible. We also lost O'Brien around that time and it meant other players that weren't as good played, or players that weren't playing well weren't dropped. It really was a monumental collapse.

They will if he puts in 100% effort. Even if he doesn't play so well.

It's not always about getting stuck in and throwing yourself in people's faces, but when you're lazy and can't be arsed the fans are going to rightly get on your back. That's what happened with the latter statement you made.

hr mudt have been doing something right. Hes just been signed for 16 million by a CL winning manager. Some of our support wouldnt know a good young player trying to learn his trade if their life depended on it.

Wilson wasn't that good in his first season. But when he started the next season he was a different player.

I still stand by what I said earlier. If he is willing to put 100% effort in and is willing to learn he should have a run in the team. If not then the place should go to someone who will put 100% effort in.

In fairness, it doesn't matter if he gets bought for 50 million. If he plays for CCFC and loses possession cheaply and stands and watches while the full back and winger both start a counter attack with his hands on his hips then people wouldn't be impressed with that. Of course people will lose possession, but if he had tracked back as hard as he could to pressure / break up their counter attack then at least he would have tried (even if they had scored).

That's not saying he didn't score good goals and played well offensively in some games. That's not standing up and booing him, it's just pointing it out. It happened a fair few times and we conceded at least once from it.

Feel free to quote this post when we sell him in a few years and everyone is kicking off about it
