Even with loans he has played for 9 clubs - he was always going to be loaned out at Sheffield United where he started and then Southampton.

The fact he seems to return to the same club several times suggests the opposite of an attitude

Yep, well I just listed that as possible and it is still possible.

There is something amiss with him somewhere.

Yes, he went to Doncaster three times on loan, but if you look at those stats, the first time he went he got 4 goals in 8 games, so of course they would want him back. Second time he was only there for 5 games and I guess the third time was still based on those 4 goals in 8 games.

Third spell he did nowt and they didn't keep him. 5 goals in 41 games.

Fact is, he was loaned 3 times in 2 years and then later, a further 4 times in 2 years.

I personally rate him, because every time I have seen him play against us he has played very well.

Something amiss somewhere though.

He looked really good against us this season in 3 games for Notts County, yet they have now got rid.

We have I'd rather keep the wages and have Mcnulty, Biamou, JCH and Ponti than have him. Also Tony Andreu is to come back as well.

Mansfield can have him any

Forte can play the left wing, hence why I said he’d fit the 4231 system MR will likely revert back to when JJ and Andreu are fit.

Anyway anything can happen over the summer tho hopefully more on the incoming side of things...

But on the that wing we already have Jones and Shippers. It's the right we need to strengthen. Bayliss is great but he's a CM.

Possibly signed a very good contract at Southampton and didn’t wanna walk away from taking a pay cut?

At Sheff Utd he was a youngster breaking into the game when he was on loan at Doncaster so doing the usual getting experience out on loan

Agree with that but JJ mostly played on the right cutting in st the start of the season with Vincenti on the right when they’d switch flanks

Omg why do we have a 3 page thread about this player! He's rubbish end of. Not good enough for Notts then he's not good enough for us.

I think we’re over looking his ability and what the stats suggest he could be if asked to play football on the deck, given the ball to feet and not asked to bring the ball down from the sky

If we remain in L2 he’s a free agent who can bring experience , power and goals.

Christ sake he’s fucking crap. Yes caused us one or two problems, but perhaps we were crap then. We’ve got 4 strikers better than him all in Monday’s squad plus Jodie Jones.

Out of interest what you basing that opinion on? Im guessing you’ve only seen him play a maximum of 3 times.

Absolutely ludicrous people considering him as a worthy signing. I thought we wanted to take steps forward not sideways?

Usually agree with you Steve...just don't get a 3 page thread about him...3 says before arguably one the biggest games in our history.

Could name about 12 other strikers in league id rather have.

We need a plan b should Monday go tits up.
It’s all well and good building a squad for a assault for L1 but you gotta get there and need short term players to do just that within the budget.

After all I don’t see many leaving as to what we require bringing in for the wide areas of the squad and balancing the books as a result.

Plus how many of the 12 strikers are free agents or require a good fee?

I still feel like |JCH would be a much better player with a full pre-season behind him. He's young and has championship experience but is coming back off a massive injury.

No but he’d be on my short list on here on his stats alone which still say he’s good enough on a free

I know I’m brave or daft in some eyes and in the minority on this but sometimes the focus is too much on L1 and not players capable of getting us there.

Based on seeing him play twice recently yes, and the fact a poor Notts County side don’t want him.
Actually I’ll reverse your question do you really think he’ll be an improvement on McNulty, Biamou, JCH, if we keep him, Ponticelli or Jones ?

Ok but another spin is a manager largely roasted on here for the way he plays football and sets his side up we’re now validating his opinion of a man who only started 15 L2 games and mostly used as a impact sub still achieved 8 L2 goals.

Mostly asked to pull the ball out the air a lot, we seen what happens if you gave him ball to feet. He’s tidy footwork, still has some pace but has strength and power too.

I stand by my opinion of if you play him he will get 10 league goals in L2, I also respect your opinion too.

His stats still say he can perform at this level

I get what you say about our managers way of playing in the early part of the season I criticised it plenty of times on here, thankfully it now seems he listened to me and altered things a little, we now appear to be a half decent outfit.

This adds to my point about having a player like Forte.

In a few too many games we tried to nick games 1-0 and it didn’t work as the reliance on McNulty to get the goal and we lacked goals from other areas notably wide areas.

If we had a few extra goal scorers or experience in the fins
3rd we might of had more success. We made a good transition tho as a side over a season.

Ironically 1-0 wins proved successful for Accrington 18, Exeter 17, and Wycombe 16 times

My Notts supporting mate reckons they were paying him a decent wack along with one or two others. They wanted to keep Stead for another year and have had to trim some of the higher earners to afford him.

I agree. His pedigree certainly suggests so, but he’s been massively anti climatic this far. Hopefully with improved fitness and match sharpness he’ll be a better prospect next year.

It’s a risk however it thetes a fee involved, as do we spend it in the assumption he’ll come good or use elsewhere.
