I've seen the lad take a lot of stick on here in the last few weeks but I must admit I've not seen a lot of him, when he signed I thought it would be a fantastic bit of business and there seemed to be a fair bit of hype surrounding him.

How did he play last night ? Do you think the best is yet to come from him ? Perhaps the change of Manager will do him good ?

Beavon has said he was impressed with both Jones and Lameiras, will we see them starting league games soon ? I've never been very impressed with Lameiras if I'm honest, doesn't seem to have much of an end product and my 7 year old Daughter is less lightweight than he is, that said, playing how we did last night is the best still yet to come from him ?

If he worked on his end product and tracking back he would be much better. It looked improved last night and Slade made a comment about it as well that they will be working on it.

So far Jones hasn't really delivered. Can't read the game. Plays for himself, not the team.
Lameires is a lightweight, but his hair's very tidy.
Beavon works 100% . Draws defenders to him. Reads the game well. Reminds me of old fashioned players from the 70's, when men were men.

I would hope we see more from Jones,
Personally I've seen enough of Lameiras.

Jones had a very good game last night and was a constant threat to the Brighton defence. Much more of an end product to his play last night I would say.

Jones has had his best games against league 2 or u23 sides , same goes for George Thomas .
Neither are what we need for the 1st team at the moment

Tbf whilst i agree with your general point Thomas was one of our best players against Bolton the other week, beat I've seen him play in a league game.

You are right, but of course this was not league 1 opposition.

Yeah with Thomas as well, they are worth persevering with, Lameiras on the other hand
I think it's a case of, what we've seen is all we'll get.

Very much a rabbit in the headlights type.

No the answer to the first team currently, his team ethic is not there. He's a individual when he plays and not very often plays the killer ball makes the wrong choice and loses possession to easy agains better opponents

Slades a man for work rate and very much team a team game.

A talent to nurture but not kicked on from what we seen when he arrived last year on loan. Maybe we was dazzled by his dribbling abilities.

Last night he was better but still showed his flaws, I'd not select him Saturday after what I seen last night. Didn't do enough for me. Never seems to shape his body right to receive and dart away.

I'm not really a fan of Jones to be honest. Wingers who have no end product or can't make a decision to save their life are my biggest football annoyance.

I'd loan him out to a League 2 team for a bit, depending on who else we get in.

Rather offer him back to Dagenham and use in a deal to get target man Oliver Hawkins

Which is good.

However, how many chances has he blown, and when has he really done it against League 1 opposition?

Can't really shoot, cross, or pass. Scared of getting tackled. His silky skills are consistent, but unless you can do something with the ball afterwards it means nothing.

He came on loan last year and was part of a team with good experienced players all over the pitch who could help him with on pitch guidance and support. He did well as a result
The majority of the experienced guys left prior to the beginning of this season and he found himself part of what was essentially an U21 team but playing League 1 football
Let's see how he gets on with the new team that RS is putting together

Thing is when he singed he was 'one for the future' that wasn't expected to go straight into the first team. On that basis there's certainly promise there. As with any player its how coachable he is and if he can be improved.

i know we paid a fee for him but the lad is still only 19.
There's plenty of potential there. He's going to be a more than useful player.
The fact that we paid a decent fee for him has led to unnecessary expectation for him to be the finished article straightaway.

Jones - McSheffrey summed him up well on comms for CWR a few weeks back. Said he was like 'a speedboat without a driver', or something similar. He needs some time to learn the game a bit better - decision making, use of his body, when to make the runs etc. It will come.

Lameiras - I think he's a clever player when on song, but unfortunately that is far too rare currently. Another who looks like he needs to learn the game more in terms of body use, use of the ball etc. I'd expect more from a 22 year old to be honest. I doubt his contract will be renewed at the end of the season and nor should it be, based on what I've seen.

JJ has gad more of an impact (assists and goals) this season than Ryan Kent did last! However RK done a step over nutmeg thingy that went viral so people on here wanked him off. Think he has a lot of potential, just needs to get his head down and learn!

Also think Ruben Lameiras comes in for a lot of unnecessary stick on here! His understanding and reading of the game is fantastic.

Everybody go on you tube and watch the Millwall 0-4 Coventry game from the beginning of last season, and look at Armas 2nd goal. To read the game as RL did then isn't taught. 95% of players (at this level) would of just played arma through off-side. He may be slightly light weight but in time he'll fill out! There are bulky players older than RL who don't read the game half as well as he does. And as for his light weightedness, he never moans or batches and gets up and carries on. Will try and win back the ball that he's lost. Which is more than another player who was overly bigged up and wanked off on here last season aswell, Murphy.

I'd take RL and JJ over JM and RK anyday

So it was. Full strength promotion chasing team. In the same way we hammered Premier League West Ham.
I think Jodi Jones' performance has to be put in its proper context.

In fairness, he was getting the best of a Championship defender!

I think lameiras is more suited to the championship than league one could be useful if we get promoted. I think at the moment Jones could be a good impact sub and hopefully in time develop into a very important player for us

I've defended Lameiras in the past and it's clear he's got ability but I don't think he's ever going to realise his potential. I think you're right about not renewing his contract.

I would take AA, RK, JM x 2

Over MT, MS, RL, JJ

Anyway and like JJ

We were an awesome attacking force last season. Just wish when Reds then Turner got injured we were able to get one more solid defender
