Surely he gets released in the summer?

Clearly a player there, but championship level? I dont think we will ever know, hes been injured for the majority of the season again

Granted not the ACL issue this time

But surely its now a case of we've all tried, it hasnt worked, see you later

Think he would rip it up in L1 at a Plymouth or someone

No money for sentiment really, let him go make a career somewhere he’ll get regular game time and put any wages towards some proper competition for O’Hare.

Agree. We've got to cut our losses and move on. Kelly, Waghorn, Shipley and the deadwood we've loaned out this Jan should also be gotten rid of permanently to make room for more capable replacements to fill obvious needs throughout the team.

Can see both sides of the argument, should he be released ,will be a suprise if he's let go but the thing is if robins let's him go so be it.
Think as well can see Fadz on his bike out the club ,as to up the quality robins needs budget.

Wasted far too much money on him, should have released him years ago.

Fadz is signing an extension.
I'd expect Jones will be released.

He wasn't even getting on the pitch before he was injured and we were low on options, so imagine he'll be let go in the summer.
Shame really, but hopefully restart his career elsewhere

It’s the standard lazy response anytime someone doesn’t want to get off the fence about a player they don’t know much about. “He needs a loan….”, problem solved.

If we were going to loan him out you'd imagine it would have been this season really

Actually he's been fit for most of the season
Had a couple of absences due to covid but apart from those two periods has been on the bench for the majority of the games until his recent issue which I understand is relatively minor
No idea whether he'll be offered a new contract when his current deal expires
But I hear that Robins was wrong when he said recently that we have a 12 month option
So will be relatively straightforward if he's not in the manager's plans

It’s a shame he didn’t get a run out at AM instead of Shipley, his career here is surely over. Good luck to him, hope he gets a decent league one/two club.

L1/L2.

If we can cover his wages with a loan then it’ll be a relatively risk free gamble.

We will kick ourselves if he does a JCH and we let him go, he has a good season and becomes a 1m player.

We’ve invested for 3 years without return. It’d be worth having a contingency plan.

If it becomes mathematically impossible for us to reach playoffs, then it’s well worth putting him in the pitch for the remaining matches.

If the manager doesn’t rate him though as seems to be the case, a couple of goals in League 2 or 1 isn’t going to change his mind? Therefore for both parties it makes sense to cut ties.

If you’ve invested in something for three years with no return then it’s probably time to start questioning whether it’s worth continuing your investment.

When Champ SUFC let McNulty, 25, drop to L2 for zero and he gets sold for 1m plus the year after, I guess many of their fans were divided on opinion too.

Your opinion is perfectly valid given injuries though.

Tough call.

I am sure, had he not had his recent injury he would have had some proper game time in the run in with the injuries and illness we have had. His latest setback has probably scuppered it. Shame we didn't see more of him to get a indication of whether he is worth offering a new contract too, especially when Shipley seemed the preferred option.

Unless he literally asks for peanuts I expect he will be released, but it makes a mockery of extending his contract for three years while injured to them just ignore his availability when he's fit. May as well have not given him the first extension. He'd have been more likely to get another one had he got injured again.

What annoys me is that we've no idea whether he's good enough for this level, even as a back-up, because he's been given such little opportunity when others like Shipley have. We've been crying out for a goalscoring AM this season and he *could* fill that role but hasn't been tried.

Yes sadly I think it’s time to let him go I would put his wages in to trying to sign Ebolosie from derby

Maybe the manager thinks Jones would be even worse? All we have to go on is a quarter of a season in League 2 four years ago.

Ebiowei might be available from what i can tell, seems he got a 1 year deal and i don't think Derby are in a position to offer him anything currently. He looked excellent yesterday and at 18 has years to build on that too.

I think we did right by the lad by standing by him in his recovery I'm sure robins will have seen enough day in day out on the training pitch to know if he's likely to make it at this level after his recovery from his injuries
