Why would we release them with 2 years left on their deals?

well maybe not release them as that would cost but maybe make them available for transfer (but even that begs the question how Kastaneer got a three year deal!)

It might be best to get Kastaneer out on loan to see if he can shift some of the timber he seemed to be carrying last season

Agreed, but I genuinely can't imagine who would take him on though.

I think he was told to find a loan club in the January window but it didn't happen
The club would almost certainly let him go if he could find another club

It might be one where we have to pay his wages to get him game time

Any insights into what the problem is with him? Just not settled or something more fundamental?

That was kinda what I was driving at. Just been watching his highlights reel and even though he looks really good there, you still get the impression he’s a bit of an arrogant sod.

Which baffles to me why Robins agreed to sign him as attitude-wise he's everything he hates.

I'd love to know what went so wrong as Badlan was scouting him for around 6-7 years prior to his arrival at the club and I just can't fathom how someone who's clearly excellent at his job can be so badly duped for that length of time and didn't notice the quite severe attitude issue Kastaneer has.

Saying that, is it any worse than Brights? And if not it’s understandable that Robins thought he might be up to the challenge of managing it.

No not at all. Perhaps Robins was the only manager to date to get a tune out of him but I'm more inclined to think we just got lucky with Bright.

That's the only thing I can think of to why Badlan brought Kasta in. It's certainly one of those that will be up there as one of our strangest signings in recent years - especially given the amount he was hyped by Badlan initially.

I believe the underlying problem is that Kasta thinks he's the best player at the club and everyone else should accommodate him
I'd guess that's what's happened at his previous clubs too
He obviously has talent but without hard work and a good attitude he will continue to move from club to club until everyone in the game gives up on him

Looks like another Ravel Morrison-esque story. Teams will continually take punts on him, he may show glimpses but ultimately never fulfil their true potential.

Hoping he can turn it around as he’s got talent, and good pedigree. Just a shame as the application doesn’t seem to be there at all.

What is this based on? The slide tackle against Portsmouth? Or have people been talking to him? I know Robins has spoken about him struggling to adapt to England, and I'm personally surprised we haven't just mutually agreed to end his deal seeing as he doesn't appear to have even been in the country for months. But I don't really get where this take has come from.

Has Kastaneer taken the time to learn some English yet?

Kastaneer doesn't learn English. English learn Kastaneer.

I can remember three things about his season.

Scoring against Bristol the Rovers.
Assisting Daryl Janmaat’s goal away at Watford.
And sliding through Paul Downing, the Pompey fans, the stand, and halfway back up the A34.

Edit: don’t know how the random ‘the’ got there, but it sounds good so I’ll leave it.

Kastaneer has looked out of his depth in the U23s. Looked slow and has barely touched the ball in some games.

Agree with this he seems well below the expected level Looks like he would struggle to get in the Folly Lane first team.

Better than some that have lived here their whole lives. We’re so lazy when it comes to foreign languages.

Think of the positives. I’ve seen her a few times on’t box, I just didn’t know her name. You’ve educated me.
