For the Luton game in December

NEWS: First ever Jimmy Hill Day to take place this December

The match will be held each year on the home game closest to the day that Jimmy sadly passed away – and this year will be held when the Sky Blues face Luton Town at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday 15th December.

Members of Jimmy’s family will be invited attend the game as guests of the club, as will stars of the 60s who were managed by JH.

There will be special content in the matchday programme and on the scoreboard, while there will be a bucket collection in aid of the Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund too.

The Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund awarded it’s first three bursary awards to local charities and organisations earlier this season – to Castle Wood Special School, Bulkington Cricket Club and Coventry Sphinx FC – while it also funded new TVs and a PS4 for the matchday Family Zone.

That is alongside supporting Sky Blues in the Community activities for children and adults with disabilities and providing opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people in Coventry and Warwickshire.

In the build-up to the game, there will be an online auction of special CCFC prizes – with money raised going to the Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund.

Dave Busst, head of Sky Blues in the Community and a member of the Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund committee, said: “Jimmy Hill played a significant role in Coventry City history and the Legacy Fund is a great way for the Coventry Fans to support the fantastic projects which are benefiting from the projects being delivered across the local community.”

Dave Boddy, Chief Executive at Coventry City, said: “It will be a great day, to honour the life of Jimmy Hill and to raise vital funds to continue the work of the Legacy Fund in his name. We hope that fans will embrace this day, and that it becomes a key annual date in the Coventry City calendar.”

We're planning an event on the evening of the 10th with the Former Players Association and the club in support of this. Watch this space.
