Football legend Armfield dies aged 82

RIP to a proper legend of the game. Always enjoyed his co-commentary on BBC Radio 5Live (his playing days were long before my time).

A great footballing man who spoke a lot of sense and never over hyped what he saw. His knowledge of the game was second to none and listening to him on the radio always a pleasure.

He was our right-back when I first started watching England play.
They say he was the very first overlapping fullback as he got forward a lot, which was very unusual in those days.

Just had an hour long tribute to him on five live. It says he was England's greatest ever full back, I never saw him play but I recall my dad saying he was class. A one team player staying loyal to Blackpool, even when Matt Busby wanted him at Man Utd.

I always found his contributions as a football journalist / pundit as good as any.
