No way would I have him as captain. Excellent work rate and makes some excellent runs but his attitude is one of a primadona!

He shouts at people for making errors but his error count is double any of the others players

One of the many reasons I doubt whether Pressley can turn things round

He's not the worst player and his workrare is fabulous but don't ball our the youngsters on your team for making a mistake you have just made and will make again in a few minutes

No he's just not captain material. Fleck, Thomas, obrien and Swanson would be good

I liked o'brien at the start of the season but as it's gone on my opinion of him has gone down. He started well, great work rate an motivated team mates. Put himself about an got in good positions making some good tackles. But the past 2 months he shouts at himself, hammers other people at their mistakes an makes the same mistake minutes later, defensively he gets back but points an tells others where an when they should of tackled when he was the closer man to cut a attack out. His distribution of the ball is getting worse also, some of the corners are not beating the first man. Should stop berating other players an look at his own game.

Erm not sure Id call any of the above good but probably best balanced 4 if we were playing 4-4-2.....unfortunately we are not!!
At least we tried to play a slightly more attacking 4-3-3- today.

Not that sure that it matters who is the captain unlike cricket where they make tactical changes the main job in football is to toss the coin surely even somebody like Webster could manage that task.

It's a good point. When I dreamt about my team talk at half time last night obrien and Webster walked off and Ryan Haynes took the armband and Jordan Willis came on and organised the back 4

In reality you make a good point and is likely one of the problems we find ourselves in

Webster!!!!!!!!! The man is a walking liability he is by far the worst centre half I can ever remember pulling on a cov shirt and I've seen some shit over the years.

On the O'Brien point I agree apart from running a lot (basic requirement) the rest of his game is poor to average.

No didn't mean Webster as such I just put the first name that came into my head I wouldn't even pick Webster in the side.

Webster has been solid in the last 2 home games and comes in for a lot of stick for past form and O'brien is the opposite, staring off well and getting worse with each game, his set pieces are terrible, and gives Pennington lots of abuse, which doesn't help the young lad.

He went mad at Pennington today when gave a perfectly good ball to run onto gave up and the full back just let the ball go out without any pressure.

Andy Turners comments on JOB yesterday...

"Jim O’Brien continues to set the perfect captain’s example, showing extraordinary energy as he sprints forward to supplement the attack and sprints back to reinforce the defence".

Should say sprints forward and produces nothing and sprints back and causes problems.

Surely a perfect running performance as that's all he did.

Agree with most of the above his effort levels are exceptional but his creativity especially his poor quality of crosses ensures we create very little, alongside Thomas and Fleck its a very impotent midfield, the best pass of the game was Jackson to Madine in the second half.

The fact O'Brien is an automatic choice AND captain indicates why we will struggle to stay up.

I'd like to see Swanson given a decent run to be fair. Is a bit quicker and looks to have a better final ball.

I think this thread underscores why we need to be shrewd in the January window and get a 'degree' of quality/grit in midfield to free up the likes of Maddison. This could be vital to us winning enough games to steer clear of you know where (the preferable end of the table is - I am afraid - a pipe dream (please prove me wrong!)

I actually think Jim o'brien is exactly what we need ... If he was able to put in the perfect cross or the perfect pass he would not be at a lower league one club like he is.i am pretty sure if you put him in a better team he would be a better player at the moment he seems to cover every blade of grass trying to get things going ,

Being captain has effected JOB's form just like it did to Baker
