Mark's kind of right, but you don't need to be on contract, you just need to be registered with the club. But I think it would be pst the deadline now for tonight anyway?

Correct. And no player would allow their registration of not contracted.

If it was only temporary to insure that player could play they might? Wouldn't mean non-payment, just more time to sort out the intracacies of a longer contract. Pompey have just signed a keeper on non-contract terms. Either way, he ain't playing tonight!!

Any news on Jennings? I hope no news is not bad news.

On the basis that we are presumabley keen for him to sign and he is presently without a club then no news is more likely to be bad news as he clearly doesn't like the terms that are on offer. My gut feeling is he won't sign.

I'm worried that it seems to be taking an age. Considering how long he's been with us, and as Lee said both parties appear to want it to happen.

I find it strange to think he'd spend pre-season with us if the parties were far apart, surely some kind of preliminary conversations must have taken place, just so we didn't get a shock when he says he wants £10k and he gets a shock when we offer £2k.

I don't know why everyone is worrying, he is still with us and talks are ongoing, which means at the min, we're in pole position to sign him and there's no news because there is nothing to say on it as of yet, I expect him to sign before Saturday. I do hope he signs as he could be a really good player for us.

Just been put on twitter that it's in the CET that he's agreed terms!

Hopefully someone can copy the story like they usually do shortly.

I really hope he signs i have a feeling he could be really important for us in the middle. I think him and barton would be ideal platform to build around. I think they may just be arguing over a few details and they will get it done.

On a side Note Kevin Kilbane was on the irish tv last night presenting the Irish game and said he was happy tp be at Coventry and delighted to score the Peno and get a winning start.

From what Astute has said he could be our most important signing. The missing piece of the jigsaw.

The club have agreed terms with central midfielder Steve Jennings, who is expected to complete the formalities today, and they are close to making a decision on Hungarian striker Peter Poloskei who was given another chance to stake his claim for a contract in a development-squad friendly against Sheffield United.

Why the hell would he join Fleetwood over Coventry? I know we've come down a lot but seriously??

If it was a Championship team I might be worried.

I was just saying because of our history of targets signing for different teams

If he goes to fleetwood then it would show his lack of ambition & happy to take the £££££'s.

Although as the day goes on I'm starting to get more and more edgey.

Maybe it was his agent putting out spin to hurry us up in signing him?

I bloody hope so. The club have had the guy now for what three weeks and two days before the season starts he still hasn't signed. I know he got a slight injury but I'm sure he could have gone somewhere else if he wanted.
Come on City pull your finger out!!

I love how its always citys fault! What if Jennings and his agent have asked for additional clauses/bonuses etc? There are 2 sides to every story.

Fair point just in the past we have had players waiting for contracts and more often than not they haven't materialised.
