......could be interesting?!

Our midfield lacks bite and tenacity, everything that Doyle gives Utd. Be interested to see how Jennings changes our balance.

Let's hope he plays. That is obviously unless the acadamy has a striker we can play there instead

Jennings is better than Doyle. There are more players in midfield than these two though.

Has doyle played against us since he left? I can see him getting sent off tonight!

Or getting carried off if he decides to tangle with Jennings

I do find that odd too, surely Brown should have played there or Kilbane? Academy striker/attacking midfielder is a strange choice given the options....

It did strike me as unusual that a youth team striker has got the nod during pre-season and for the first couple of games of the season as our most defensive midfielder, but the coaching staff have seen a huge amount more of him than me and have obviously made the link for a reason. Christie was not a full back for the vast majority of his career as an academy player, but played nowhere else for the first team last season. Perhaps less of a departure, perhaps not by much.

I figure the position is Jennings', but that he missed most of the pre-season and got his first run out as a sub on Saturday. I am guessing he will play from the start there tonight, unless they think he is still a little way off the pace. Him and Doyle might not come into direct contact as much as with other players, as they both might be a little deeper. I am really looking forward to Jennings making the position his own... with Barton and Fleck growing into three parts of an influential and effective midfield.

McSheffrey v Doyle will be a key battle tonight too, assuming McSheffrey gets the nod over Baker.

They were best mates (under Adams) and will be interesting to see who will come out on top......

I don't think McSheffrey should be starting, unless he has had a rocket up his arse during the week and shown himself to be right up for it. I would certainly prefer to see how Baker gets on making a start in the hole.

Sheff and Doyle were inseparable when at the club together. Maybe Sheff would want to get one over his old pal if he plays and may actually out the effort in? Just maybe?? OK, probably not.
