I’d have had him back happily but I also don’t think he’s that much of a loss

Weird one, I think we were just very unfortunate that a club right on his doorstep happened to come in for him else I imagine he’d have been ours

Couldn’t give two Tom tits that we didn’t sign him.

This, however, is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen.

think he means he will learn a lot from Sierra Leone international Osman Kakay who plays there but isn’t even a centre back. not even the weirdest part of the post.

They are an odd bunch QPR

We happened to sign Todd Kane off them who they all hated anyway and ever since all their fans were jumping on twitter after a loss

They now seem to be offended at City fans saying that they offered more money than we did

Wish him the best but hope he flunks when he plays against us and has a Luton style performance

Really not that concerned. It’s not revisionism either; I liked him when he was here and it was clear to see the benefits of a left footed LCB, but he wasn’t a stand out.

There’s also the flippant part of me; if he wasn’t convinced he wanted to sign for us immediately, after a whole season here and therefore being part of the team, experiencing what we’re all about as a club/fans, and the vision of MR etc, then sod him!

My knowledge isn’t as wide as it once was, but there are other realistic options out there.

JCS was good. Would rather have had Ostigard but he was a solid player. Not concerned as I think we’ll find someone just as good. Good luck JCS

Jarrad Branthwaite, Ben Davies, Naby Sarr, Terence Kongolo, Haydon Roberts, Jarslow Jach, Liam Kitching, Akin Famewo
All a couple of options maybe some less realistic than others but still options

This is a blow. Thought this was one of the nailed on signings.

When fully fit he was our best defender. Big blow.

Really, solid player, but Luton wouldn't want him.

We thought we'd missed out on Ostigard, (who was better) but when we were top of the table, no one mentioned it. We will find a replacement I'm sure.

Let's just move on now.

Therein lay the issue for me. Even when he looked fit, he would often pick up a knock in a game and look extremely vulnerable to even a hint of pace. There were (at least) a couple of instances where he risked injury to himself and opponents where he made body check type challenges because he was incapable of running with the opponent. Injury free, i'd have him in a heartbeat, but I'm wary of players (especially defenders) who are regularly injured, and particularly at a relatively young age.

Also took him ages to get fully fit last season ie seems like it took him month to play 90 mins.

But for me he was absolute quality..right age..right fit.

We need to move on. I'm sure we have lined up quality alternatives.

Let’s hope so!
The Rumour Mill seems to suggest we can expect a few more loans in this season.

The question is will Bidwell suffice at LCB? If so( I don’t know) , we can focus on other areas. Although I still think we’d need another CB…and then still need to solve our LWB predicament.

Feels like we’re a bit later than usual with the transfers…but this might be just my general impatience.

I heard a month ago he wouldn't be signing for us from a Chelsea connection then everything resurfaced for some reason. He never intended to sign for us permanently imo and I'm not that bothered truth be told....we move on.....he has!

Great question. Left footers are as rare as rocking horse shit unfortunately, which is why I was delighted with the JCS loan, offered us great balance there.

One name of interest to me is Jerome Opoku who is being released by Fulham. Lots of rough edges & had a mixed bag of loans at lower levels but fits the profile nicely.

Another Fulham are releasing is Alfie Mawson, naturally right footed but comfortable on his left, exceptional on the ball & a real talent. His injury record however would see me steer well clear I'm afraid. Looks like Birmingham are going to try & sign him; could go either way.

In terms of CBs who could potentially step up, I've listed quite a few in the past:
Ross Sykes (Accrington)
Jack Tucker (Gillingham)
Harry Darling (MK Dons)
Ricardo Santos (Bolton)
Luke McNally (Oxford)

Many of these would be unattainable now though with new contracts, bigger suitors etc. & all are predominantly right footed.

One player I'd like us to have a look at as able to cover both LCB & LWB is George Nurse at Shrewsbury. Added bonus of being a long throw specialist too.

Ultimately I think we might look at a young PL loanee again.

Tucker has just joined MK Dons. Likely end up making them some money.

I’ll be honest, if Moore left I wouldn’t be overly fussed. Started really well, then seemed to tail off to a kind of mid-table keeper. Not saying that’s a bad thing and appreciate that’s where we are at the moment, but if we brought in a better keeper to push on then fine by me.

He’s our best keeper in years and considering we were in a relegation battle during our first season back in Championship and then managed a mid table finish this time around, he’s more than good enough for where we are. We’re unlikely going to be able to afford a top-end Championship keeper.

I heard the same thing
But @Skybluebeliever said more recently that there was a possibility JCS move might be back on as his other option(s) had fallen through
Tbh I have no issues with JCS going to QPR if the offer suited him better
Players learn quickly how ruthless football is
And it's not just the clubs, fans can turn quickly too

Agreed, his form appeared to have dipped after getting covid, and was promptly followed by a lack of confidence and decision making. (Fine margins make for big differences in performance for a keeper) I'm sure he will come back refreshed, fit and healthy, and will be a crowd favourite this coming season.

He’s an average Championship keeper, I’d say after Fadz, Kane, Bidwell, he’s next one the list for a younger replacement bringing in.

With Moore: he’s got two seasons left and we’ve got bigger transfer fish to fry this summer. Next year Wilson will be out of contract. Would be a good time to bring in a challenger/understudy.

None of them are better in goal

Seriously, there are other areas of the team that need strengthening before we look at replacing Moore. And given our financial limitations I'm sure we aren't looking to add any competition for him either permanently or on loan.

We need LWB, LCB, AMF, CF, before looking at a keeper (imho)
Not to mention a few other players in various positions to off load somehow.
