Just think back to his performance away to Luton that will cheer you up us not signing him

Also with a new coach it's a risk that they have a poor season as a gamble taking on a reserve coach without real experience.

Shame, but at least it's been sorted early rather than last minute and hopefully we'll have other options to chase up now.

Wonder if this will impact the McFadzean contract situation at all?

JCS is decent but it's not the end of the world. He didn't set the world alight at Birmingham, could be the same happens at QPR. We just need a left footer in that position, gives us so much more balance. Should be a few options around. Would've been happy with JCS but really not bothered he's gone elsewhere.

4 year deal too, can see why he’s gone there. Big risk for QPR given his injury history.

Ah well, at least we didn’t spend all summer chasing him like Mowbray did that time with that big defender.

Bidwell is better than him anyway!

He actually looked better at LCB than at LWB at times (not that that's saying much)
Watching the Luton away highlights again, I think JCS isn't irreplaceable by any means.
I think the fact that MR would of had him on a free, but wasn't willing to pay a signing on fee is as much a sign of how he rates him as much as how much financial pressure he's under. Or maybe we have other options in the pipeline.

Some of the revisionism around JCS is interesting. For me, he was a very good player and was key to making our system work. Granted, he had a stinker at Luton but so did many others. It’s disappointing that we haven’t managed to sign him although I do understand the concern around injuries. If we’d offered him a 4 year deal I wouldn’t be overly impressed.

Yeah it's pretty standard on here - he's gone to a team who are paying him more and have a better chance of getting promoted, yet suddenly he's shit.

Not shit, and would have been happy to sign him, but would also be hopeful we could pick up similar.

I rated JCS. Yes a bit injury prone but showed he has quality.
I thought from body language at end of last game and on presentation night he wouldn't be staying.
Sadly Coventry City are not that attractive at the moment. If he was originally a Chelsea product, QPR will always be more attractive as a London club.
Im disappointed but not surprised.

Yep, same happened when there was talk of a bid for someone outside the 'big 3' where someone suggested Moore and everyone all of a sudden wasn't fussed about Moore leaving. It's a lot like being 13 and finding out the girl you fancy doesn't fancy you back, 'Yeah, didn't like you anyway.'

It will be pages on a player who is not ours including updates on appearances, form and injuries for months to come. We seem to have obsessions with ex players, we need to let it go, energy in the squad will not be spent talking about players not there.

MR and staff will be working with those in front of them, not those who decided to be elsewhere.

I’ll be honest, if Moore left I wouldn’t be overly fussed. Started really well, then seemed to tail off to a kind of mid-table keeper. Not saying that’s a bad thing and appreciate that’s where we are at the moment, but if we brought in a better keeper to push on then fine by me.

This QPR move has probably been verbally set up for a while their new boss is ex-Chelsea and JCS is London based no brainier really for him,

@Frostie any CBs who are left footed you can think of who might be able step up and fill the void?

Great question. Left footers are as rare as rocking horse shit unfortunately, which is why I was delighted with the JCS loan, offered us great balance there.

One name of interest to me is Jerome Opoku who is being released by Fulham. Lots of rough edges & had a mixed bag of loans at lower levels but fits the profile nicely.

Another Fulham are releasing is Alfie Mawson, naturally right footed but comfortable on his left, exceptional on the ball & a real talent. His injury record however would see me steer well clear I'm afraid. Looks like Birmingham are going to try & sign him; could go either way.

In terms of CBs who could potentially step up, I've listed quite a few in the past:
Ross Sykes (Accrington)
Jack Tucker (Gillingham)
Harry Darling (MK Dons)
Ricardo Santos (Bolton)
Luke McNally (Oxford)

Many of these would be unattainable now though with new contracts, bigger suitors etc. & all are predominantly right footed.

One player I'd like us to have a look at as able to cover both LCB & LWB is George Nurse at Shrewsbury. Added bonus of being a long throw specialist too.

Ultimately I think we might look at a young PL loanee again.

I’d be getting in whoever does Oxford‘s CB scouting. They seem to have one ready to move up for decent money almost every season.

They certainly do!
Mark Thomas is their Head of Recruitment, Portsmouth just tried to poach him but he turned them down. Although I think we do rather well with our recruitment too tbf.
