Signing for Peterborough for 1.2 Million is the buzz all over social media.

Anyone know if we have a sell on clause? Handy few quid if so

Seem to recall someone previously mentioning we don’t. Though I would be surprised if that is the case considering we let him go on a free(?).

I’d certainly hope so after we let him go on the cheap (or for nothing). Has done very well at Rovers, better than a 1in 2. You’d think he’d be able to carry on that ratio at Posh, who are arguably a far better side.

I thought I’d read at the time that we actually had a larger sell-on percentage and that’s why he went for free.

Depends who you believe. But CET last year said 10% sell on...

How Sky Blues could benefit from former striker

The Sky Blues let the centre-forward move on a free transfer in January

You can almost hear the convo between the Rovers owner & Tommy Widdrington...

Owner: What striker shall we buy with the money Tom?

TW: I have used my extensive contacts around the globe and narrowed it down to 2.

Owner: Do they play for Coventry?

TW: That is irrelevant, my extensive database and contacts have...

Owner: It's Baka & Biamou isn't it?

TW: Err... Yeah.

Owner: Well there's the money... Buy both!

It would be absolutely mental for us to have let JCH go for free without a sell on clause.

Bit of a weird question, but how many sell on clauses can players have?

In this case, is it plausible that Oldham, Rotherham and Cov could all have sell on clauses? I know it's likely his last club would be the main beneficiary of any sell on clause but we've talked on here about getting money from Maddison moving on from Leicester and we'd be 2nd down the pecking order of sell on clauses behind Norwich City.

D'you know what I mean?

He has done well at Rovers but we did better without him so for me letting him go was the right decision but fair play to the lad hope he does well.

It isn't the end of the world if we haven't. As somebody says above, we might have a slot to fill in Bristol now with any player we've got that is surplus.

Both could be correct. Sell on if he moved on within 12 months and not after. Something like that

Depends on how the contract was written
Less established players will usually only have a single sell on clause
The big stars might well have more detailed contracts with multiple clauses in favour of the selling club

JCH is a League 1 player at best and will last one season at Peterborough before they move him on
If our new guy plays on Saturday he will have him in his pocket !!

I would imagine that on Saturday the new guy will be on the bench if he features at all. He needs to spend time training with the rest of the lads to get used to our style.

Sell-on clause or not, it's a rare miss for us on the recruitment front to let a player walk for free and then see him get sold for seven figures less than a year and a half later.

Definitely a sell on clause ,that why he went free to brfc , pay sheafs wages for nearly a whole month.

I was sure I read we'd let him go for free because there was a decent sell-on clause involved...?

I think there’s more to it than that as Robins seemed fairy desperate to get rid of him. But, we can only speculate.

I like JCH as a player, but he never really looked like he was capable of playing to the level he is showing at Bristol Rovers. Firstly, credit to him. Secondly, letting him go for free with a ‘sell on clause’, would probably net us more money than had we tried to get rid of him for cash at the time.

Either way, unless we secured a 20-30% sell on clause, we’ve probably lost money on this transfer in the end. Shame it didn’t work out.

He’s done well for himself since he left us credit where it’s due maybe the system we used etc just didn’t suit him good luck to the lad

Gotta say I was shocked when JCH starting banging in the goals at Bristol. I remember being at Charlton away in 2018, and thinking he was just so ineffective. Not a target man, not a pace merchant and didn't seem to get involved at all. Robins threw on Baka and Hiwula and we won the game with Baka scoring a brace. He didn't score many in League 2 either for us.

As a result if this I can see either Baka or Max going to Bristol Rovers.

The only time I ever saw him bully anyone on the pitch was that tiny steward away at Southend

Had to smile. Bristol Rovers fans looking at who to replace JCH. Hiwula mentioned (possible) McNulty (no chance with wages). Leon Clarke (leaving Sheff Utd, but on 25k a week, allegedly). Anybody think a bid will come in for Max or Baka?! They do like the CCFC connection!

Rumours abound they’re taking Lee Mills on loan.
