Just read that Burnley have accepted a £7m bid for Jay Rodriguez.

he is 22 and scored 21 championship goals last season.

When we sold Juke he was 22 and scored 18 championship goals i think, yet we only get around £1m...........? How do other clubs seem to hold out for these big prices, yet we accept the first offer we receive usually

No wonder we are in the mess we are.

More importantly. We had 4 months of the season left.

I believe it was reported to be between 750 to 1 million.

Surely we would have got a similar figure 4 months later.

Even if it was a little less in the summer say 500k but kept us up, surely that would have been worth it.

Unless someone had other ideas.

Speculation not fact, I am still not a member of thr board

Your only as good as your current form - he had 9 in 25 league games.

Cody's goals + Platts goals + Nimely's goal = 9 league goals

2011/12

Juke 12 goals in 47 games

Rodriguez 21 goals in 42 games

one played in a well organised team that attacked well creating chances for strikers ..... the other didnt

thats why there is a difference in value ...... however that difference does seem disproportionate

Think something like one in 17 or so League games for Boro though.

As they used to say in one of my favourite programmes: "He's no Davy Jones". I think we got what Juke was worth. I think he's proved at Boro that he will never set the world alight.

You've for ask yourself how he could score 9 in 25/26 games for our shower of shite yet only score 3 in 20+ appearances for a top half table side.

Only 1 of his goals for us was a penalty.

Tbf I remeber Hussey and Christie swinging plenty of good balls into the box, he missed many more than he scored

It also shows that we built the team around him and his strengths whereas at middlesborough he's had to fit in with their system.

He converted a lot more of them than Platt did, though.

nope! they have both had one decent season, are the same age, granted Rodriguez was more prolific last season but certainly not worth 7 times more

I just think Juke was slightly underpriced and Rodriguez has been overpriced.

But Rodriguez is better than Juke, and has more potential i think. If it was more like £2m for Juke and £4m for Rodriguez it'd be closer to the right value. IMO.

I nearly choked on my scallop and chips when I read that Old Southampton had paid £7m for him.....
