Coventry City can confirm that First Team Technical Coach and Head of Under 23 Development Jason Farndon has left the Club.

Jason has left the Sky Blues following a restructuring of the coaching infrastructure at the Club affecting his role, and everyone at Coventry City would like to thank Jason for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.

Jason joined the Sky Blues 11 years ago, initially coaching in the Academy at the Alan Higgs Centre. Moving through the age groups and working with several players who would go on to play for the first-team, Farndon then began working with the Under 18s and helped to guide the side to the National Championship Final in 2016/17.

Later in 2017, Farndon moved to Ryton to work with the Sky Blues Under 23s and in September 2019 was appointed to the role of First Team Technical Coach and Head of Under 23 Development. In these latter two roles, Jason was part of the coaching staff that helped the Under 23s reach the National Play-offs in 2019/20 and the Sky Blues first team to the League Two Play-Off final victory and the League 1 title in 2019/20.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Jason the very best of luck for the future.”

I did but it basically said he wasn’t a good guy. If true they must have known that for years. What’s the trigger for change now ?

Was the cheap option who was promoted during the darker days gone by.

I guess things have to change or it can go a bit stale hearing the same voices everyday so it’s easier to shake up the coaching staff than replace the manager.

Was pretty obvious once they advertised for a new first team coach last week. Be interesting to see who gets the gig.

Shame he is leaving, been part of a journey with us. However, just like the playing squad we need to also ensure we get better coaching staff as we establish ourselves in this league.

Robins thinks change needed, also sends message out to the rest of backroom staff that change will be made if he thinks it's needed.

No idea! I assume so as most players in their latter years have done so or atleast started.

I just seem to recall things being said about him returning in some capacity when his time comes

I am sure on one of the podcasts, maybe the What's the Craic one he'd said that he was doing them already, but I may be getting mixed up

I wonder if he'll wrap up the playoffs with County and make an announcement. Purely speculating

Started them a few years back but not sure what level he's up to.
Definitely won't have UEFA Pro or have worked in a Cat 1 Academy though which was in the job requirements - wonder if that is actually essential?

Indeed.
Shame the way it ended, when he first started winding down here AV took him under his wing & Doyle couldn't speak highly enough of him then. Wonder what changed?

Done a really god job bringing players through the academy but think this is the right move. Now to get a first team coach in that has played at a decent level. May help when trying to get players to sign for us over other clubs.

I feel this shows the club are thinking strategically about the skills and knowledge they need to fill the gaps in the current coaching staff.
High performance never stops evolving!

I’d be surprised if he jumped. Can’t see him getting another championship club.

Imo more likely that Doyler will be NC manager first, then hopefully we'll have him ready to take over from MR at some point.

Nothing other than I think they want ex-pro coaches who know the pro game don’t think there are any below Viveash wouldn’t surprise me if once a first team coach is appointed others will follow.

Doyle and I assume Viveash had a right bust up didn’t they?

He’s built a cult status for one season whereas in reality he was rubbish 90% of the time over his whole career here. I admire his ability to retain fitness and dedication but why would he be a better coach as a former player than say Mcallister
