Going to prove to be a massive month for us. Listening to Mark Venus nothing will happen manager wise until then, we have a number of players leaving after their loan periods and possibly others sold on, to have half a chance of staying up we need to recruit new blood and replace those leaving and replace them properly with experienced players. I am talking a minimum half a dozen players. With the Port Vale match called off due to the FA cup we have 4 league matches in January and looking at them I can't see a win anywhere.

Any action and decisions need to be made in the first week of January not the last day which seems to be normal practice here.

The situation is dire, I look forward to this Tim Fisher interview this coming Friday to hear his immediate plan for our future, that's if he turns up.

The only action that will happen in january is the sale of anything worth any value along with decreasing the playing budget in preperation for the sisu master plan.

The club is on its last legs and they will walk away when theyve squuezed the last few assets out the club

League 2 if we are lucky.

One of two things are going to happen in January. We either get a manager who is out of contract or clause expires ala Slade or we have a takeover and the new owners want their own man in. No other reason for the club to be treading water at this point in time on the manager front.

We can only hope that there are 4 worse teams than us come thr end of the season. I can't remember the last time we had a better second half of the season than the first.

It sounds as though LA Galaxy want mcbean to go back and McCann's definitely going back, I'd send wright and Agyei back, I'd be also tempted to send page and Sterry back too, they're no better than what we already have. We're still desperate for an experienced centre back

The problem is going to be recruitment - we aren't going to pay for anyone so then its peooe who are free agents and therefore unfit and will take 2-3 months to get properly fit, or loans so we're talking kids again. We need experience but what we don't need is a load of 34 year olds again, we need some players around the 25-28 bracket, experienced but still a decent age.

I can only see Jan going one way......Badly

It's difficult to see what we're going to gain in January. We won't be paying any transfer fees by the sounds of it so any new players will be freebies or loans. Our dip into the loan market from a place of strength in the summer (when you consider how well loan's developed at the club last season I don't think it's unreasonable to think that we were an attractive proposition for loans) wasn't exactly successful so is probably even less likely to be successful from the position we now find ourselves in. The majority of freebies are likely to be leftovers from the summer so will most likely be the bottom of the barrel and far from match fit.

Our only real chance is that a new incoming manager has some good contacts and favours to call in and will get a couple of decent loans to come in. But therein lies another issue. Have we left it to late to sign a decent manager? We're a less attractive club to a manager than we were just a few weeks ago. How much more less attractive will we be in a few more weeks if the decline in results continue? Of course we'll sign someone as manager as there's always managers available but as we slide down the barrel so does the quality and experience available to us.

Just to add. The one positive is the prospect of Stokes coming back from injury. He may take a little while to get match fit but hell be like having a new signing given he's yet to play this season.

We have had 3 months to get these freebees and nothing has happened.

All that will happen is we will lose some loans an get some more in.

Its going to be very difficult, the one window and no loan window is a real problem. A lot of teams won't want to let players go until thr end of the window as they will want to sort themselves out first. Unlike last season (cole, armstrong, murphy) purely retaining a loan player is not going to be a bit of 'cracking' business. we simply have to add quality, physicality and experience to the squad.

I think Stokes will be the player sold sadly.

We can possibly command a couple mil for him.
If we can retain sterry and page, I would let the 4 forward loans leave , mccan leaves by default and bring in 2 forwards 1 midfielder and 2 defenders.

Like for like we won't be spending anymore money than what we're spending now

If there is any possible way we can afford anything other than that ( having saved on Stokes wages ( forget the fee, we won't see it , running costs plus new manager wages)) I would try for a couple more midfielders too
Honestly don't think we will be able to spend any extra money than we already do now, ground zero wages wise

Lose to Sheff U badly on Thursday - how defensive will TF be. Looking forward to his interview more than the match (which is sad in itself). Hope they grill him properly and, as has been said before, don't let half the time get wasted by the likes of Nigel rambling inanely (no offence Nigel - have a rant at some other time, we can't afford to waste this opportunity to make him account for his/their actions)

About the time TM left I posted on here that I thought the best we could hope for was to stay in touch with the other 23 clubs and hope that there is some budget left so we can finish the recruitment that was so badly fooked up over the summer. Personally am not too downbeat at the moment because courtesy of the 13 points we got from MVs first 6 games in charge we are not yet doomed to relegation. No matter who is in charge they can't do much until January anyway so maybe, just maybe, we are taking our time to find the right man to replace MV, who, lets face it, had an excellent start based on points gained, and rightly was given a chance to prove he could do the job permanently

Oh Happy days, the owners are just marking time, consulting their legal team, marking time, preparing to sell Ryton, marking time, praying for the sale of Callum Wilson for big bucks and possibly Stevenson and then if there are any Gods of any denomination will finally end the utter disaster of a 9 year tenure and free the club up to possible new management. This would make my 2017 !!
I wouldn't expect a huge improvement in finances unless we got a Billionaire, but I would expect lines of communication to be opened in a positive vein once again with our Landlords, local council, supporters groups and local business. I would hope that all the missing Sky Blues could support their hometown club as best they can and see what we could achieve.

Hmm, not so sure. I was very reticent and unconvinced even when we were winning under him.

I agree. Hes looked that classy that I could see a PL team coming in and taken a punt £1m+ add ons to take him into their development squad.

You will learn nothing new from Fisher. I don't believe he has anything "new" to tell us. Will be just more bullshit and "politically correct" answers, which will frustrate all.

Not sure much will change at all in Jan but hope to be proved wrong. Board members come and go, hasn't made any difference under Sisu. For whatever reason they feel the need to retain us as an investment, and shy of some billionaire nutjob coming along to save us we will continue to plod along.

Most realistic thing on the horizon is continue bringing young talent through, bring in a few older heads along the way and hope for a freak season to propel us in the right direction. It isn't coming via financial means anytime soon.

When he was winning he was thinking of doing the job long term. So there was no urgency. I think they let the recruitment slip and nothing will happen til January. Seeing as our collapse usually starts around Christmas, I am not looking forward to our next few games.

I can't see January offering any improvement. It's very possible Stevenson will be gone. There's a lot of work needs doing to the team, I'm just not sure how feasible it is. If we wait until January to appoint a new manager, it leaves virtually no time for them to identify targets anyway.

No one in their right mind will invest in this club . Look what happened to SISU its not a money maker only for a few on the Gravy Train, the out come is dire next step Liquidation and Fold over and out. It wont be a big loss only for a few paying customers that keep turning up.

Stokes will be getting sold. I can't see it any other way. He's been 'on the grass' for months. We won't see another game from him I think.

As for what we need:

A replacement for Fleck
A replacement for Vincelot
A replacement for O'Brien
A replacement for Martin
A replacement for Reda
A replacement for Armstrong

I said this in the summer and got dogs abuse. 'The transfer window is still open for three weeks', 'you have no idea what you're talking about'. Etc... Yeah? Well where the fuck are you all now? We are in serious danger of getting relegated if something isn't done.

Oh, and a new manager would be nice.

We will be left with the remaining budget and a January market that traditionally has no one available at this level; except the unwanted still kicking their own heels since the summer. So it will be the likes of Rammage, Henderson and Hunt that you have to take a punt on...promising on paper but disappointing on the pitch.

Yup. I know we are weak at the moment, but I expect us to come out of the January window that bit lighter.

Looking grim. A new manager, whoever he is, can instill confidence and try a few new things, but he can't make players who lack physicality be more physical and he can't suddenly give experience to inexperienced players and he can't make players who can't score, score.

He needs to wheel and deal and I just think we will lose our best player(s) and won't be able to replace them with better quality.

It makes the decision to let Martin and Phillips (for all his faults) go. Martin is better a bettee player and mkre experienced than Turnbull, and there is little difference in quality between Sterry and Phillips.
